Job Description
The Leased Housing Department is seeking an Assistant Housing Manager to assist with the day-to-day management of the Inspections Unit. The Unit is responsible for inspecting all subsidized units on the Section 8 program to ensure they are maintained in accordance with Housing Quality Standards (HQS) and National Standards for the Physical Inspection of Real Estate (NSPIRE). The Assistant Manager will work under the direction of the Housing Manager and will have some latitude for independent initiative and decision making.
Duties include, but are not limited to the following:
Assist with day-to-day management of the Inspection Unit.
Ensure inspections are conducted in accordance with HUD/HQS regulations and NYCHA policies and procedures.
Schedule and review inspection schedules to ensure productivity standards are met.
Analyze and assign work related to inspector’s assigned areas; review and approve inspector’s schedule timesheets and monthly reports.
Review, research and analyze data in Siebel computer database.
Research and resolve inquiries from advocates, landlords, and tenants.
Conduct periodic field visits to monitor inspector’s activity.
Process payment adjustments for landlords.
Associate inspection related documents to the Section 8 case.
Contact and inform tenants and/or landlords of Section 8 inspection status.
Answer inspection related inquiries from tenants, landlords and other entities.
Perform other tasks as needed to support and improve the overall operations of Inspection units.
Note: Due to the existence of a civil service list, candidates must have civil service status in the title of Assistant Housing Manager to be considered.

Qualifications
A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college, and one year of full-time satisfactory supervisory and/or administrative experience in housing management at a development or developments containing at least 150 apartments, including overseeing the performance of duties such as: interviewing applicants; determining eligibility; gathering and evaluating information to resolve complaints; collecting rents; and/or resolving tenant related problems; or
A four -year high school diploma or its educational equivalent, and five years of the full-time satisfactory experience as described in "1" above; or
A satisfactory equivalent combination of education and experience as described in "1" or "2" above. Undergraduate college credits may be substituted for experience on the basis of 30 semester credits from an accredited college for one year of full time satisfactory experience. However, all candidates must have a four year high school diploma or its educational equivalent.
