NADAP Assistant Director of Human Resources in New York, New York

Overview

The Assistant Director of Human Resources will work in coordination with the director of human resources on supporting the agency's talent development initiatives through training, technical systems and employee relations. This position will also be involved in ensuring agency compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Develop strategies for talent development, including training. Taking into consideration identified development needs, create plans and programs to enhance staff skills. In conjunction with the director, develop, implement and maintain leadership training program.

  • Become SME in NADAP's HR system, UKG. Assist in final rollout stages of implementation. On an ongoing basis, maximize the efficacy of system modules, balancing recommended HR best practices and end user experience.

  • Manage and advise on employee relation issues to assigned programs. Provide employee relations counseling. Collaborate with leadership to reach successful resolutions, mitigating risk to the organization. Review corrective action plans for thoroughness, accuracy, clarity, and effectiveness. Notify or escalate issues to director of HR when necessary. On at least a quarterly basis, visit or meet with assigned programs in person. Report out monthly to program leadership on exit interview results.

  • Establish and maintain department records and reports. Implement and oversee NADAP's HR electronic record retention program, including review and destruction of historical files. Act as the liaison for audit requests.

  • Complete required compliance reporting, as well as industry surveys. Ensure labor law postings are current across all locations. When requested, draft compliant policies for distribution or inclusion in the employee handbook.

  • In conjunction with the director, develop NADAP's DEI strategy, including trainings. Act as an advisor to NADAP's DEI committee. Schedule and conduct meetings, ensure tasks and action items are assigned to keep initiatives moving forward.

  • Design and implement an annual employee engagement survey. Synthesize data, report on outcomes and recommended solutions.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • At least seven years of well rounded human resources generalist experience touching all areas of HR, or a minimum of five years applied experience with a masters degree in human resources.

  • Experience creating and presenting trainings to diverse working groups.

  • Experience with DEI initiatives or a demonstrated interest in this area.

  • A resourceful employee with strong problem solving skills. Able to operate in ambiguous situations.

  • Working knowledge of applicable labor laws.
