Citigroup Apps Development Group Manager - C14 - NEW YORK in New York, New York

The Applications Development Group Manager is a senior management level position responsible for accomplishing results through the management of a team or department in an effort to establish and implement new or revised application systems and programs in coordination with the Technology Team. The overall objective of this role is to drive applications systems analysis and programming activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage multiple teams of professionals to accomplish established goals and conduct personnel duties for team (e.g. performance evaluations, hiring and disciplinary actions)

  • Provide strategic influence and exercise control over resources, budget management and planning while monitoring end results

  • Utilize in-depth knowledge of concepts and procedures within own area and basic knowledge of other areas to resolve issues

  • Ensure essential procedures are followed and contribute to defining standards

  • Integrate in-depth knowledge of applications development with overall technology function to achieve established goals

  • Provide evaluative judgement based on analysis of facts in complicated, unique, and dynamic situations including drawing from internal and external sources

  • Influence and negotiate with senior leaders across functions, as well as communicate with external parties as necessary

  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience

The Fixed Income Technology organization is looking for a talented professional with strong technical skills to architect and develop innovative solutions using Java technologies within the front office risk space. This dynamic role has two major responsibilities: (1) responsible for the Market Data services to support Fixed Income Risk across real-time and end-of-day usage; (2) leadership of the Structured Credit Risk vertical to own the front-office risk calculations for Structured Risk products.

Responsibilities:

  • Own the development and adoption of strategic Market Data services for Fixed Income front-office risk usage.

  • Lead the Structured Credit Risk team to deliver regulatory and business-driven requirements and drive adoption of strategic architecture across the end-to-end flow for Structured Credit products (e.g. Index Tranches, CDOs, NTDs, etc).

  • Partner with the Quants, Product Development & Technology Teams to architect, design and build highly distributed, low latency and resilient risk technology solutions

  • Collaborate with peer technology teams to drive common architecture and build reusable Microservices and components using industry standard design principles

  • Lead geographically distributed technology teams to own, build and deliver technology solutions from inception to deployment

  • Proactively contribute to stability of overall production systems and troubleshoot key components and processes in complex and highly distributed risk platform

  • Keep track of latest technology trends and proactively learn new technologies driving practical and reference implementations

  • Promote agile test-driven development through implementation of testing framework to support Unit, Component, Integration, End-to End and Load testing

  • Champion adoption of latest standard Dev Ops and secure development practices

Qualifications:

  • Experience in fast moving Capital Markets Front Office technology environment with expertise in Fixed Income products

  • Working knowledge of Front Office Risk calculations, especially for Structured Credit products

  • 8+ years of experience in Core Java, J2EE, Spring Framework

  • 2+ years of experience in Python scripting and data analysis

  • Experience in building highly scalable and distributed applications using reactive microservices programming on cloud infrastructure

  • Strong expertise in messaging technologies such as gRPC, JMS, Kafka etc

  • Excellent knowledge of Microservices, APIs and Container Technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, Istio Service Mesh etc.

  • Proficient in latency measurement and performance optimization of Java based platforms with focus on JVM tuning

  • Experience with observability stacks like ELK, Prometheus, Grafana, Kiali, Jaeger etc.

  • Sound knowledge for persistence technologies such as relational databases, NoSQL databases, off heap storages and distributed caches

  • Hands-on knowledge of Linux / Unix

  • Experience working with senior Quants and Technology Managers

  • Good verbal and written communication
