The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

The Admissions Coordinator will work in the Office of Student Affairs (OSA) at Columbia Nursing, which includes the Admissions, Student Services, Student Life, and Financial Aid functions for the School. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Enrollment and Operations, the Admissions Coordinator will be part of a high-performing, dynamic team tasked with ensuring a high-quality experience for applicants and students with a focus on Admissions.

Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Support communication and implementation of relevant school policies, processes, and procedures to improve applicant and student outcomes and experience by providing timely responses to inquiries from applicants and students (via emails, phone calls, walk-ins)
  • Manage the admissions email inbox to provide timely and accurate responses to student and applicant inquiries
  • Monitor applicant statuses and maintain accurate student records in Slate, including information on matriculation and applicant withdrawals.
  • Match, reconcile and maintain all application records in the Columbia University Student Information System (SIS), including name & address updates, academic program changes, and deactivations.
  • Conduct a preliminary review of admissions and internal student applications to review for completion and recommend applicants to the admissions committee for decision

  • Coordinate and participate in applicant recruitment events such as off-campus college fairs and open houses for prospective students

  • Reconcile and monitor the admissions administrative budget and systematically track and pay invoices to vendors for purchases, using the P-card in compliance with University policies & guidelines.

  • Order giveaways for recruitment and events
  • Assist in department-hosted event planning focusing on admissions and student service events, including setup/ breakdown, participating in events, creating flyers/invitations, handling RSVPs, ordering food, scheduling rooms, etc. as needed and assigned.

  • Assist in maintaining and posting updates on admissions website pages
  • Uploading official transcripts to SLATE of accepted students from mailed-in documents and electronic transcripts from general email account;
  • Participating in events sponsored by OSA, including Visiting Day, Orientation, Graduation, and White Coat

  • Performing other projects, duties, and coverage in OSA as needed and assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education, plus 3 years in training and experience.

Other Requirements

  • Three (3) years of related experience.
  • The successful incumbent will have experience and/or a strong interest in working in higher education. They must be computer literate, with a solid background in Microsoft Word, Access and Excel, including merging files.
  • The Admissions Coordinator must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written. They will be able to set goals and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, and work successfully under pressure, as a member of a team, and independently. The individual in this role will be detail-oriented and have the ability to exhibit excellent judgment and discretion while maintaining confidentiality at all times. They must be willing to work more than the traditional work week when necessary.
  • Two (2) years of experience in a higher education setting is strongly preferred. Knowledge of the University's SIS system. Knowledge of Technolutions (Slate) CRM system.
