Description

NY based client is seeking a highly skilled Accounting Manager to join their dynamic team at a leading media law firm. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the firm's financial operations, including accounts payable, daily cash receipts, disbursements, billing, timekeeping, and monthly financial reporting. You will play a crucial role in maintaining the integrity of the firm's general ledger and ensure compliance with accounting standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Accounts Payable:

  • Oversee and manage the accounts payable process, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices, payments, and vendor management.

Daily Cash Receipts & Disbursements:

  • Monitor and record daily cash receipts and disbursements, ensuring proper allocation and reconciliation.

Monthly Reporting:

  • Prepare and review monthly financial statements, including profit & loss, balance sheet, and cash flow reports, providing analysis to senior management.

General Ledger Management:

  • Maintain and reconcile the general ledger accounts, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately and in accordance with accounting principles.

Billing & Timekeeping:

  • Manage the firm's billing process, ensuring that all client invoices are generated accurately and on time. Oversee timekeeping systems to ensure all billable hours are tracked correctly.

Disbursements:

  • Manage the disbursement process, including expense reimbursements, vendor payments, and other outgoing funds, ensuring compliance with internal policies.

Compliance & Audits:

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and assist with internal and external audits.

Process Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and implement best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

    Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

CPA or CMA certification preferred.

5+ years of experience in accounting, preferably within a law firm or media industry.

Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.

Proficient in accounting software (experience with legal billing systems is a plus).

Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.

Experience with timekeeping and billing systems.
