College Now is a collaborative initiative of the City University of New York and the New York City Public Schools. Its primary goals are to improve the academic achievement of the city’s public high school students and to ensure that graduating students are ready to do college-level work. College Now at Baruch College is committed to providing high quality educational opportunities for students both in the high schools and at the college. College Now at Baruch College supports the development of written and oral communication skills, a strong foundation in mathematics and technology, advanced coursework to supplement the high school curriculum, information literacy skills, and skills in critical thinking and problem solving.

The duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Managing, supervising, and directing the day-to-day activities of the program including hiring, supervising, developing, and evaluating professional and support staff.

  • Supervise program admission process.

  • Working closely with the Undergraduate Admissions and Registrar Offices on a regular basis to ensure that proper records are maintained, and appropriate services provided to the College Now students.

  • Working with academic departments that offer sections in which the College Now students are enrolled, and in the development of supplemental instruction sections.

  • Facilitating the recruitment and course scheduling of new students, and provision for the use of all college resources and facilities by College Now staff and students.

  • Create and main relationships with leaders of participating high schools and community organizations.

  • Arrange collaboration between faculty members and programming at schools participating in College Now.

  • Coordinate and monitor the implementation of all policies and procedures related to student recruitment, enrollment, class placement, attendance, and satisfactory performance.

  • Liaison with University College Now and other CUNY programs.

  • Monitor essential indicators of plan effectiveness (registrations, attendance, retention, and academic achievement).

QUALIFICATIONS

MINMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be a current CUNY employee

  • Bachelor's Degree and six relevant experience required

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Successful candidates must have leadership experience in university-based programs. It is preferred that the candidate have experience in teaching and administering programming for high school aged students. Experience in other areas such as college administration, other College Now programs within CUNY, and communication program management is also preferred. Other preferred qualifications include experience with teacher education, student services, personnel management, assessment, student and faculty recruitment, budget management, and customized training.

CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW

Manages campus College Now program operations under the direction of a senior administrator. College Now is collaborative program of the City University of New York (CUNY)/Office of Academic Affairs and the New York City Department of Education designed to prepare New York City's public high school students for college.

  • Delivers and monitors comprehensive college preparatory program including academic courses (both for high school and college credit); campus-based tours and cultural events; and exclusive scholarship offerings

  • Evaluates programming outcomes and makes recommendations to improve offerings

  • Oversees program's budget and daily administration

  • Prepares reports for management; may write grant proposals

  • Liaisons with course coordinators, college and high school faculty, and various administrators in the implementation of professional development activities

  • May manage professional and/or clerical staff

  • Performs related duties as assigned.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

$96,602- $104,057; Salary commensurate with education and experience.
