Amazon Senior Software Development Engineer/ Tech Lead, Campaign Creation Core in New York, New York

The Forge team provides tools, services and frameworks for one of Amazon's fastest growing businesses. The team's mission is to create engaging and intuitive advertising experiences across campaign creation, management, and strategic recommendations. We help advertisers reach their marketing goals and getting the most out of their brand and product catalogs while minimizing cognitive load. We accelerate advertiser success through every stage of the advertising cycle—from planning, discovery, and decisions to launch, manage, and monitoring of campaigns, through to ongoing optimization via recommendations and insights. Our customers include sellers, vendors, authors, entertainment creators (both endemic and non-endemic), as well as partners, agencies, and Amazon’s marketing and sales teams, who operate globally and across all device types.

We are looking for a Sr. Software Development Engineer to help us evolve the tools, services and frameworks we provide. We seek that rare combination of a solid coding background, a proven track record of applying cutting-edge technologies at scale, and a willingness to challenge the status quo and raise the bar on every service and feature we build.

Key job responsibilities

  • A strong understanding of, and a desire to deeply learn customer and developer needs, experience building and operating consumer-facing systems from the ground up, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to build trusted relationships with senior partners (Sr. SDM, Director, VP), as the initiatives are highly strategic and visible across Amazon's senior leadership.

  • You will be responsible for challenging the status quo, raising the bar on every service and feature we build, driving the team’s long-term vision and architecture, shaping roadmaps, and providing technical leadership to the engineering team. The ideal candidate will have extensive design and architecture experience, knowledge of AWS technologies and services (e.g., AWS Lambda, ECS, CloudFormation, VPC, API Gateway, Amazon CloudWatch, etc.), front-end and middle-tier frameworks, and a proven track record of building mission-critical, highly scalable systems.

  • To drive our campaign creation technology evolution strategy, we are looking for someone self-motivated, who will invest time in understanding customers in a meaningful way, is highly goal-oriented, self-driven to push boundaries, and has a track record of delivering results

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience

  • 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

  • Experience developing full-stack applications with MVC/MVM frameworks (e.g., React.js, Vue, NextJs, NuxtJS, Express, Fastify, Spring, Grails ..)

  • Strong computer science fundamentals in data structures, algorithm design, problem-solving, and complexity analysis.

  • Experience working with Cloud/Amazon Web Services (AWS) products.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven experience in platform/framework front-end development and building scalable front-end infrastructure software or distributed systems for commercial online services.

  • Experience in design, API integration, and adherence to API standards such as OpenAPI, familiarity with RESTful APIs, and expertise in domain-driven design approaches.

  • Proven experience working with data querying languages (e.g., SQL), scripting languages (e.g., Python), managing data pipelines, and running high-velocity A/B tests is a plus.

  • Demonstrated leadership abilities in an engineering environment driving operational excellence and best practices.

  • Demonstrated influence on system design at the organizational level.

  • Understanding of a broad range of software design approaches and common UX patterns.

  • Experience with modern test automation frameworks like Cypress, WebdriverIO, Playwright, etc

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $151,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
