General Description

The selected Research Associate with be responsible for analyzing and disseminating results from PI Baden’s long-term Ranomafana Ruffed Lemur Project. Responsibilities will include securing permits & coordinating export/import of plant and animal samples; analyzing samples in the lab (nutrition, genetic, hormone assays); training visiting students and collaborators in lab methods; analyzing and interpreting data; and disseminating results in the form of conference presentations and peer-reviewed publications. All lab assays, analyses and publications will be performed in consultation with, and approved and co-authored by PI Baden.

Other Duties

  • Secure permits & coordinate export/import of plant and animal samples

  • Analyze samples in the lab (nutrition, genetic, hormone assays)

  • Train visiting students and collaborators in lab methods

  • Analyze and interpret data

  • Disseminate results as conference presentations and peer-reviewed publications

    Qualifications

  • MA in Biological Anthropology, Biology, or similar

  • Experience running nutrition, hormone, and genetics assays in the lab;

  • Strong publication record;

  • Excellent oral and written communication;

  • Strong organizational skills with ability to establish plans, manage a large and varied workload of assignments with conflicting priorities, follow up and complete work by set deadlines;

  • Detail oriented and accurate with strong numerical analysis, evaluation, and research skills;

  • Ability to work productively as an individual contributor and collaboratively as a team member in a time-sensitive role;

  • Proficiency using computers and standard office, financial and relational database applications and systems, especially MS Excel, Office 365, Power Point, R;

  • Demonstrated multicultural competency and ability to build strong relationships with students from a variety of backgrounds;

  • Demonstrated commitment to building and sustaining an inclusive community.

The Research Foundation of The City University of New York (RFCUNY) was established as a not-for-profit educational corporation chartered by the State of New York in 1963. RFCUNY supports CUNY faculty and staff in identifying and obtaining external support (pre-award) from government and private sponsors and is responsible for the administration of all such funded programs (post-award).
