Global Treasury, a segment of the American Express Finance group, is responsible for providing a balance sheet that provides a competitive advantage for the company. This includes managing liquidity and capital to support our business; delivering cost-effective, diverse, and resilient funding; and identifying, measuring, and addressing financial and operational risks.

Global Treasury Operations, a segment of Global Treasury, ensures AXP has the right amount of money, at the right time, in the right place, in the appropriate currency to fulfill its financial obligations when they become due. The team is responsible for processing and the control of cash flows across the company along with the design, implementation, and reporting of the cash flow forecast and intraday cash flow processes.

How will you make an impact in this role?

As American Express continues along an impressive growth trajectory, the company is preparing to ascend the ranks of the Federal Reserve’s bank categorization. With the anticipated category changes will come heightened requirements in the liquidity, capital, and regulatory reporting domains. To prepare, American Express is pursuing Project Fast Forward to interpret these new requirements and uplift capabilities to meet our needs.

The Analyst role is an incredible opportunity to play a key role in this Enterprise initiative by continuing to successfully develop best-in-class intraday reporting processes. As an Analyst on our Global Treasury Operations team, you will partner extensively with numerous Global Treasury teams to deliver on these important and exciting initiatives.

This position affords the opportunity to influence the design of an essential platform that will enable Treasury senior leadership to make critical and time-sensitive strategic decisions and be a keystone tool that other Treasury professionals will use years into the future.

Responsibilities:

  • Propose and implement solutions for the design and improvement of intraday cash flow reporting as well as support the day-to-day execution of the reporting.

  • Support the development & maintenance of all intraday process documentation (Policy, SOPs, PRSA, Sr. Management/Committee Reporting, BCP).

  • Strengthen partnerships with American Express Technologies and the Treasury Technology and Operational Transformation team to develop, enhance, and expand the capabilities of the automated Intraday Reporting Platform.

  • Play the role of strategic advisor as the expert on Intraday cash flows to provide insights to the Liquidity Risk Management team and Treasury senior leadership.

  • Execute and monitor all reporting and governance aspects of intraday cash flows and processes, including daily reporting, thresholds, and escalations and identification of root causes for out of pattern intraday cash flows.

  • Assist with the implementation and ultimate automation of processes and controls.

  • Continue the evolution of intraday reporting from execution-oriented to an insight-enabled operating model.

  • Assist with the preparation of required regulatory updates, exam, or committee materials.

Essential Skills:

  • Results oriented, with a track record of driving successful outcomes across multiple initiatives.

  • Strong analytical and financial skills are required, project management skills and Treasury technology experience is a plus.

  • Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional partners to achieve project goals.

  • Self-motivated, pro-active individual with excellent attention to detail.

  • Ability to adjust quickly to shifting priorities, multiple demands and ambiguity.

Minimum Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of Treasury or financial experience.

  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, operate effectively within large cross-functional teams and influence business partners to drive transformational change.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, drive projects, improve processes, and work well under time-pressured deadlines.

  • Highly proficient in MS Excel & PowerPoint

  • Strong communication, presentation, and writing skills.

  • Treasury and/or financial reporting knowledge preferred.

  • Knowledge of relational database skills including coding and querying preferred

Preferred Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in Business or Finance

  • MBA a plus

  • CTP a plus

Employment eligibility to work with American Express in the U.S. is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions.

Salary Range: $55,000.00 to $105,000.00 annually bonus benefits
