Crescent City Schools Director of Food Services in New Orleans, Louisiana
The Director of Food Services impacts students’ lives by:
Implementing a customer service-focused philosophy with education partners, including administrators, teachers, parents, and students, emphasizing nutrition education, value, and satisfaction
Establishing programs that support healthy food habits aligned with the Crescent City Schools Wellness Policy
Developing and enforcing quality standards for food presentation and service
Maintaining high standards of sanitation and safety in all food service operations
Overseeing efficient and cost-effective food service operations by recruiting, training, scheduling, supervising, and evaluating all food service personnel
Maintaining accurate records of income, expenditures, food supplies, personnel, and equipment
Developing and training employees in safety regulations across all phases of the school food service operation
Establishing and managing program budgets while maintaining financial objectives and goals for the food service program
Monitoring and analyzing revenue sources and authorizing program expenditures
Enforcing federal/state regulations regarding nutritional standards, reporting, and record-keeping
Preparing and maintaining documentation required for audits and reviews
Administering the district’s meal program in compliance with federal regulations
Coordinating equipment maintenance and building repairs with appropriate personnel
Managing vendor relationships
Developing and executing on a multi-year food service plan for nutrition education and farm-to-table initiatives in the school food program
Using leadership feedback and goal setting to improve daily practice
Taking on other tasks as needed

Believe in the mission and values of Crescent City Schools
Have a Bachelor’s degree in Food Service Management, Nutrition, or a related field, or equivalent education and experience
Are certified by the National Registry of Food Safety Professionals (or equivalent) with a valid Food Safety Manager certification
Have a minimum of three years of professional experience in food service management, with school-based experience preferred
Have knowledge of:
Child nutrition program requirements
Quantity food production techniques, safety/sanitation procedures, and serving standards
Financial management in food service operations
Technology and software used for managing efficient food service programs
Have the ability to:
Interpret nutrient analysis spreadsheets and develop menus in compliance with policies and regulations
Maintain accurate records and complete reports, including web-based submissions
Use public relations strategies to promote the food service program to children, staff, and the broader community
Lead teams and work collaboratively with vendors, stakeholders, and other departments
Integrate nutrition education into core subject areas
Have a valid Louisiana driver’s license
Physical Requirements
Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods
Lift and carry up to 50 pounds (e.g., food supplies, equipment)
Operate kitchen equipment safely
Reach, bend, twist, kneel, or stoop as required
Perform tasks requiring fine motor skills, such as food preparation and equipment use
This is an in-person role
Working Conditions
Indoor and outdoor environments, including school kitchens and cafeterias
Possible exposure to heat, humidity, and kitchen-related equipment
Subject to prolonged standing, bending, and lifting
