The role.
Electrical/Application Engineer for medium voltage drives reporting to the R&D Manager of Product/System Development. Responsible to coordinate and lead moderately sophisticated product development projects to meet product requirements and cost targets, while ensuring a high quality design ensures customer satisfaction and a flawless product delivery. The Engineer will be responsible for resolving technical issues, providing cross-functional leadership, and globally driving a new product platform on the air-cooled GH180 product.
This role is hybrid and based out of the New Kensington, PA facility.
Responsibilities
Develop large medium-voltage air cooled drives, Power Supply and other Power Electronics technologies; introduce new features; meet cost target; and deliver modular product solutions.
Design, analyze and implement power electronics circuits, magnetic components and control strategies for large AC drives and power supplies.
Monitors and proactively mitigates risks and issues through all phases of the product lifecycle to ensure quality and performance expectations.
Provide technical expertise for technical support to a multi-functional team including component requirements, mechanical requirements, electrical requirements and product features.
Interface, communicate, transact and lead projects with multi-functional teams in a global environment including colleagues in China, Germany, Brazil and India.
Perform technical analysis for type test (component and system level) to qualify prototype design and release for serial production on-site.
Work with multi-functional groups that include (but not limited to) project management, power electronics, software development, product testing, supply chain management, after-market customer support and design/drafting.
Strong leadership, documentation and writing skills.
Your profile.
BS degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
10+ years of related work experience. Advanced degree may be substituted for years of experience.
Experience in design, analysis, testing, solving and/or commissioning of IGBT based converters.
Engineering experience in an internal and external customer facing environment.
Experience with product cost targets.
Experience with Innomotics software tools (Teamcenter, SAP) preferred.
Strong grasp on fundamentals of electrical engineering (or) power electronics concepts, theories and practical applications of medium voltage drives.
Demonstrates and applies a broad knowledge of field of specialization through successful completion of sophisticated assignments.
Experience in control theory for the design, analysis, and testing of power electronics based converters required.
Development or commissioning experience on the Innomotics Perfect Harmony GH180 product or cascaded H-bridge topology.
Demonstrates knowledge of organization's business practices and issues.
Required travel 5%.
The pay range for this position is $79,900 - $137,100. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
