Community Wellness Partners Maintenance Mechanic in New Hartford, New York
JOB TITLE: Maintenance Tech
SHIFT: 7am - 3pm
REPORTS TO: Facilities and Physical Plant Manager
MAIN FUNCTION: Assists in all areas of building, grounds and maintenance.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists with and performs hands on maintenance for daily operations. Assist with upkeep and maintenance of all building areas and grounds.
Follow safety and maintenance standards and procedures.
During summer months, mowing lawns, operating weed eater, leaf blower. Winter tasks include shoveling snow, snow blowing, plowing, spreading ice melt.
Assist with installation of new equipment, and repairs to existing equipment in residential and common areas.
Assist with projects and help to resolve problems, handle complaints and provide customer service to residents.
Ability to interact effectively and courteously with residents, staff and management team to meet the objectives of the maintenance department.
Rotating on-call schedule/on-call during weather related emergencies.
Will perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Background in Maintenance, HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, or other trade preferred. Skilled or semi-skilled maintenance experience. Previous experience in maintenance. Experience working with seniors a plus but not required. Must possess valid New York state driver’s license. A working knowledge of Microsoft word and Excel is required.
CONTACTS: Frequent with residents, staff, visitors and vendors.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Stands, walks, bends most of the day. Pushes, lifts and carries medium to heavy weights. Works in reaching and strained positions from time to time. Climbs ladders.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Is exposed to dirt, dust, grease, noise, temperature extremes, odors from garbage, trash and sewer. Occasionally and infrequently required to work odd hours in case of emergency.
HAZARDS: Exposed to falls, cuts, strains, bruises, abrasions, electrical shock, possible infections.
SAFETY: Accountable for implementing assigned responsibilities and activities to attain safety goals and objectives by complying with applicable rules and regulations and performing tasks and supervising others in performing tasks in a safe manner.
