Controls Technician
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Controls Technician to support the installation, configuration, and maintenance of HVAC control panels for a data center. The successful candidate will ensure that HVAC systems operate efficiently and meet the environmental control requirements necessary to maintain optimal data center performance. This role involves working closely with other technicians, project managers, and engineers to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC controls and related systems.
Responsibilities
Configure control panels for HVAC systems, ensuring compliance with project specifications and safety regulations.
Perform commissioning of Building Management Systems (BMS) and Direct Digital Control (DDC) systems for HVAC in data center environments.
Troubleshoot and repair control systems, sensors, and other input/output components.
Interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and control sequences to diagnose malfunctions and implement corrective actions.
Conduct routine maintenance and calibration of control systems to ensure efficient operation and environmental compliance.
Monitor system performance, identify inefficiencies, and provide recommendations for system upgrades or repairs.
Collaborate with engineering teams to implement and test control sequences for new or modified HVAC systems.
Maintain detailed records of all service activities, repairs, and maintenance actions performed.
Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, as well as local and national electrical codes.
Provide technical support during system testing and ensure HVAC systems meet the design intent for data center operations.
Essential Skills
5+ years of experience in HVAC Controls (Industrial or Commercial) or Manufacturing Controls experience.
Ability to install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain systems.
Familiarity with electrical wiring, circuit boards, sensors, and HVAC equipment.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and control sequences.
Proficiency in PLC programming, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Installation is a huge plus, with experience installing HVAC control panels and related equipment.
Proficiency in troubleshooting PLCs and Direct Digital Control (DDC) systems is a plus.
Knowledge of Building Management Systems (BMS) and energy management principles.
OSHA certification or other relevant safety training is a plus.
Work Environment
This work will be performed on the construction of a new data center. Individuals will be expected to work on a large-scale project alongside numerous contractors. Safety is imperative, and adherence to safety protocols is required at all times.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00
