Overview
The School of Environmental and Biological Sciences, located on the George H. Cook Campus, is one of the largest schools of Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey. We pursue excellence in research, teaching, and outreach in areas of study that address the biological spectrum from molecules to ecosystems. Our emphasis is on both the fundamental sciences and the social and human dimensions. We offer 21 undergraduate majors, including plant and animal sciences, microbiology, biotechnology, agriculture and food systems, landscape architecture, food and nutritional sciences, ecology and evolution, marine science and oceanography, environmental sciences and meteorology, human ecology, entomology, and environmental economics.
In addition to instruction in the classroom, field, and laboratory, our students have opportunities for experiential learning on and off campus, including a growing emphasis on international experiences through short- and long-term study abroad. Students also have access to a robust program of applied research and outreach hosted by the New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station laboratories, farms, business incubators, and marine stations throughout the state.
Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Program Coordinator II for the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences. The Program Coordinator will work closely with the MACH Executive Director and the MACH Senior Program Coordinator to provide general administrative and logistical support.Supported by a cooperative agreement with the National Science Foundation, the Megalopolitan Coastal Transformation Hub (MACH) is a Rutgers-led, 12-institution hub within the NSF's Coastlines and People program. Working with community partners in the New York City-New Jersey-Philadelphia region, MACH aims to 1) facilitate flexible, equitable, and robust multidecadal planning to manage climate risk, while 2) advancing the scientific understanding of how interactions among coastal climate hazards, changing landforms, and human decisions shape climate risk. For more information, see www.coastalhub.org.Housed within the Rutgers School of Arts and Sciences' Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences, the Rutgers Earth System Science and Policy (ESSP) Lab takes a transdisciplinary, computationally intensive approach to investigating the evolution of the Earth system, human influences on the Earth system, and policy approaches for managing those human influences on the Earth system, and policy approaches for managing those human influences. We heavily employ the techniques of statistical and geophysical modeling and quantitative risk analysis, and also engage in active outreach and policy engagement programs. This position will expire once the grant has ended.Among the key duties of the position are the following:
  • Assists the Executive Director of the Megalopolitan Coastal Transformation Hub, and the Director of the Rutgers Earth System Science & Policy Lab.
  • Responsible for the administrative tasks associated with the programs and projects for the Megalopolitan Coastal Transformation Hub and the Rutgers Earth System Science and Policy Lab.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Requires a bachelor's degree and a combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of coordination, organization, and facilitation.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Requires experience in a program coordination or administrative function, good communication skills, and computer literacy.
  • Requires the ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks, and to interact successfully with a wide range of individuals.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Rutgers Marketplace and Concur are a plus.

Equipment Utilized
  • Utilization of online collaboration software such as Office 365 and Google Drive is required for this position.
