Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Program Assistant for the Institute for Women's Leadership. The purpose of this part-time position is to provide program support for the Institute for Women's Leadership Scholars Certificate Program, a two-year, selective, interdisciplinary certificate program, and other IWL undergraduate initiatives. This is a one-year position with the possibility of one additional year contract extension after a first-year review.Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Provides administrative support to the Leadership Scholars Certificate Program through primary student interfaces (Mailchimp/Canvas) and updating databases, tracking charts, program handbooks, binders, and program website pages (MWord/Excel/WordPress).
  • Implements the outreach and recruitment strategies for the program and supports the preparation and delivery of workshops and events.
  • Works closely with the Program Director to support student internship placements and social action project development processes, student committees, and the women's leadership interview project.
  • Compiles and summarizes program evaluations.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Certifications/Licenses
Preferred Qualifications
  • A background in Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies or Student Affairs.
  • Program and curriculum development.
  • Graduate students are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • Other software platforms such as Zoom Workplace, Box, DocuSign, MailChimp, LinkedIn and Canva.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Detail-oriented individual with excellent communication, writing, and administrative skills.
  • Must be resourceful and innovative and have strong organizational, editing, and interpersonal abilities.
  • Candidates must feel comfortable using Rutgers course sites such as Canvas.
  • Attention to detail and community-building skills are necessary in this role.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and Google Suite is required.
  • The candidate should be comfortable working in hybrid (virtual and in-person) environments.
Equipment Utilized
  • Software programs such as Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides), Zoom Workplace, Canva, Mailchimp, Docusign, WordPress and GroupMe.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Flexibility in working hours required, as some events run outsides of normal business hours.
  • Must be available to work 19.5 hours per week.
  • There is a possibility of one additional year contract after the first-year review.
