Posting Summary | The Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences at the Rutgers University School of Arts and Sciences seeks to fill a full-time Non-Tenure Track Teaching Professor position to teach and coordinate 3 courses per semester in the area of Environmental Geology. The instructor is expected to teach 3 courses per semester at the 100 to 300 level with 1 to 2 of these courses enrolling 150 students in each section. In addition, the instructor would teach 1 300-level course in Geochemistry. Other courses may be assigned to the instructor that are in line with their expertise and experience.The 100- and 200- level geology courses in Earth and Planetary Sciences satisfies the Natural Science requirement for the university and draw students from many different majors at Rutgers. A 300-level course in Geochemistry is required in the Earth and Planetary Sciences major. The instructor would also work with department officers to help design future courses and directions within the Environmental Geology Major and Minor Tracks. The university has a highly diverse undergraduate student population, which is represented in these courses. Minimum Education and Experience | Candidates should have a Ph.D. in Earth and Planetary Sciences or a related field and past teaching experience. This will be a renewable appointment at the rank of Teaching Instructor and salary commensurate with experience. |

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities | Previous experience teaching introductory geology or other introductory Earth science courses to both science and non-science majors to non-geology majors in both in person and virtual formats. Experience with Online Learning Management Systems is required and familiarity with active learning and current pedagogical methods and course design is preferred. |
