Job Overview:

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a highly dedicated Infection Prevention Manager for our Infection Control Department at the New Brunswick campus.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Microbiology OR other Health Science-Related Field

  • Certification in Infection Prevention CIC required

  • At least 2 years of Infection Prevention experience

  • Must be knowledgeable of infection prevention and control principles, practices, and procedures as evidenced by certification.

Essential Functions:

  • The Infection Prevention Manager will work under the guidance and leadership of the Infection Prevention Director and assist the Director in all activities related to the operations of the Infection Prevention department including monitoring and investigating of known or suspected sources of hospital and community acquired cases of infections in order to control and prevent infections in our patients, employees and visitors.

  • Assists the Director with the oversight of the daily work in the Department such as accurate isolation protocols, interpretation of lab data appropriately and communication to the NJDOH of any reportable diseases.

  • Provides content and presents Infection Prevention-related education to all staff.

  • Guides the analysis and reporting of community and healthcare acquired data from all hospital departments and recommends improvement techniques.

  • Assists the Director on planning agenda for hospital Infection Prevention Committee meetings.

  • Creates and reviews Infection Prevention policies as well as the Infection Prevention and Control Plan to meet regulatory requirements.

  • Ensures that all required Hospital/Ambulatory Care /Dialysis regulatory data needs are met and ensures the accuracy of the hospital acquired infection data.

  • Leads the other Infection Preventionists in the department on assigning projects and committee meetings.

  • Meets long-term and short-term deadlines.

  • Reviews sterilization and disinfection techniques and recommends changes as needed.

  • Serves as a subject matter expert on Joint Commission and Conditions of Participation standards in regard to Infection Prevention.

  • Fills in for the Director during Infection Prevention Joint Commission Survey, NJDOH, CMS or OSHA interviews as needed.

  • Assists the Director in supervision of department staff in activities such as staff meetings, competency/certification and annual appraisal performance including training and education and new Infection Prevention Orientation.
