Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking an HCM Specialist I for the University Human Resources. Serves as a resource and assists in the administration of salary/compensation programs and actions for approximately 29,000 faculty and staff.Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Initiates, calculates, reviews, completes data input, and implements individual salary and data actions for faculty and staff from hire through termination.
  • Reviews documentation for compliance with federal and state regulations, university policy, and bargaining units' contracts.
  • Troubleshoots clients' salary, payroll, and access issues.
  • Resolves problems and provides customer service with clear, thoughtful, and considerate responses to salary related inquiries.
  • Inputs data and ensures that all compensation/salary/status actions are processed accurately.
  • Collaborates with the Payroll Department to complete weekly payroll processing.
  • Monitors workflow to ensure the completion of tasks within deadlines.
  • Maintains and updates all databases and programs needed to execute the actions and track and report on activities.
  • Researches, analyzes, and provides internal and external reporting.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of training for clients.
  • Assists with formal and ad hoc total compensation, salary, and HR benchmarking reporting.
  • Assists with coordinating and processing contract implementations, merit implementations, and other mass implementations.
  • Ensures good customer service and the confidentiality of work, databases, and communications.
  • Reviews, updates, and creates new procedures for work and to preserve confidentiality of work.
  • Runs reports, tracks data, reviews, and works to ensure accurate implementations within deadlines.
  • Completes special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Minimum of two years relevant work experience that include salary or payroll administration and processing in a PeopleSoft Human Capital Management or Payroll system or similar environment.
