Position: District Instructional Technology Facilitator
Reports to: Director of Digital and Blended Learning
Terms of Employment: 10 months (with 1 month extended employment); Full time Pay Grade: Teacher
Pay Range: Commensurate with education and experience
FLSA Status: Exempt
Nature of Work
Under the supervision of the Director of Digital and Blended Learning, the District Instructional Technology Facilitator is responsible for providing instructional technology services at any level. This individual provides training and support to the staff on instructional technology integration in the following areas: NC Standard Course of Study for all content areas, the NC Digital Learning Student Standards, and NC Digital Learning Competencies for Educators. The individual will support teachers in using digital content to increase student engagement through collaboration and communication by designing and developing age-appropriate digital learning experiences and student centered learning environments. The employee assists with the identifying, acquiring, and implementing instruction utilizing hardware, software, and network products for educators. This individual also assists in the implementation of system or building-level digital learning plans and any technology grants.
Education and Experience
- Valid NC Licensure
- Five (5) years of successful teaching experience
- Three (3) years of digital or blended learning teaching/coaching experience
- National Board Certification (preferred)
Certification and Licensure Requirements (if applicable):
- Valid North Carolina Professional Educators Certificate in either of the following:

Essential Functions/Typical Tasks
- Provides effective leadership and support for establishing, promoting and sustaining a seamless use of 21st century digital learning tools
- Collaborates with teachers and other instructional staff to develop curriculum materials and specific lesson plans that integrate technology and information skills.
- Conducts staff development in the areas of technology integration and the NC Digital Teacher Competencies
- Collaborates with teachers, media and technology staff, and students to evaluate and select resources addressing curricular needs and learning goals.
- Leads, in partnership with the School Library Media Coordinator, the Media and Technology Advisory Committee in effective decision making to promote the media and technology program.
- Provides leadership and collaborates with the district Media and Technology Advisory Committee to develop, implement, and update a school instructional technology plan aligned with the system-level Digital Learning Plan.
- Follows a plan for professional development and actively seeks out opportunities to grow professionally (e.g., state or local meetings and staff development).
- Models, shares, and promotes effective principles of teaching and learning.
- Works with staff in the selection of technology and information literacy with the school's mission, goals, and objectives.
- Assists with planning the design of the infrastructure so that information resources are continually available to the schools.
- Promotes and models digital citizenship and responsibility.
- Adheres to and communicates copyright as well as other laws and guidelines, pertaining to the distribution and ethical use of all resources and the principles of intellectual freedom.
- Trains and support staff in the following: Google Classroom, Google Suite, Seesaw, Canvas, and Schoolnet.
- Supports staff with fidelity of implementation of district-required curriculum that has digital and blending learning
- Collaborates with stakeholders to evaluate and select resources addressing curricular needs and learning goals.
- Engages in the ongoing evaluation of the effectiveness of the digital learning program and profe sional development.
- Prepares and submits accurate reports on time as required.
- Analyzes data both collaboratively and individually to inform instructional practices and professional development.
- Co-facilitate effective technology integration aligned to the NC Digital Learning Competencies for Teachers to create digital learning environments and provide learning. professional development that builds the capacity of the staff in order to drive student learning.
- Model effective technology integration for teachers with students.
- Provide training for parents using technology at home.
- Supports the integration of iPads, MacBooks, and interactive devices as learning tools in classrooms and intervention settings.
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
