Job Title: Mechanical Engineer - ANSYSJob Description
In this role, you will perform mechanical calculations, crunch numbers, and validate designs through calculations using ANSYS. The focus will be on hand calculations to verify forces and stresses, with no design work involved.
Responsibilities
Validate that the design meets customer and industry standard requirements through calculations.
Check the work of other team members, including inputs, equations, and assumptions.
Document calculations and share them with customers, ensuring they are formatted to be readable and understandable.
Respond to customer feedback.
Work with the mechanical design team to confirm assumptions and make recommendations for improvements to the design.
Essential Skills
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Minimum of 3 years of mechanical engineering experience.
Minimum of 3 years of experience using ANSYS.
Minimum of 3 years of experience reading mechanical drawings and spec sheets.
Understanding of industry standards.
Ability to draw free body diagrams, analyze forces, and perform mechanical shaft calculations.
Experience with equations to support the selection of components like motors, gearboxes, ropes, pulleys, and bearings.
Minimum of 3 years of seismic analysis experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Proficiency in MATHCAD.
Experience in structural engineering.
Ability to work independently on hand calculations.
Work Environment
This role is within the structural department of the Nuclear division. The primary focus is on number crunching, with no design work involved. You will be required to document calculations, share them with customers, and respond to feedback. Collaboration with the mechanical design team will be essential to confirm assumptions and recommend design improvements. As a new team member, you will have access to example calculations to guide your work.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $36.06 - $50.00
