Eliot Community Human Services JJ Youth Advocate Coordinator in New Bedford, Massachusetts

Description

Eliot’s juvenile justice programming includes a residential network for youth ages 13 to 21 who are court-involved and need placement while awaiting return to court, assessment, or longer-term treatment. These highly structured, self-contained programs offer a comprehensive intervention for juvenile offenders.

Eliot's secure program is currently seeking a Youth Advocate Coordinator to provide daily coordination of direct-care staff and youth in executing the plan of the day.

Physical and Mental Demands: Frequent walking, standing, bending, reaching and lifting to carry out job responsibilities. Must be able to safely operate a motor vehicle as needed. Ability to work a flexible work schedule contingent upon program needs. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with periods of high stress. Ability to physically carry out Crisis Prevention Intervention techniques.

Responsibilities:

  • Daily coordination of direct-care staff and youth in executing the plan of the day in accordance with program, DYS, DEEC and ECHS policies and procedures.

  • Participate in the development and implementation of Individual Service Plans of youth.

  • Promote a team approach with staff and youth

  • Assist youth with identifying interests and goals.

  • Develop a positive program environment for the youth and staff.

  • Attend weekly supervisors' meetings, staff /shift change meetings and facilitate weekly team meetings.

  • Assign and/or facilitate daily groups.

  • Submit timely, complete, legible and accurate documentation as required.

  • Safely transport residents to activities, appointments, school, work, and visits.

  • Conduct documented supervision of assigned staff.

  • Serve as an advocate and role model for assigned youth.

  • Ensure safety and security of the program including security checks.

  • Conduct and submit staff supervisions and performance evaluations in a timely fashion.

  • Assist with crisis management and use CPI skills.

  • Participate in the hiring and training of new program staff.

  • Assist with the development of program and staff schedules. Ensure that all documentation is completed by the end of shift in accordance with regulatory and ECHS policy and procedures.

  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice or related field completed

  • Must be over 21 years of age

  • Valid MA state driver's license

  • Supervisory experience is preferred!

Schedule:

Tuesday-Saturday 11:00pm - 7:00am (Sunday/Monday Off)

Sunday - Thursday 3pm-11pm (Friday/Saturday Off)

Tuesday-Saturday 3:00 p.m.-11:00 p.m (Sunday/Monday Off)
