Southern Indiana Works Youth Apprenticeship Coordinator in New Albany, Indiana
JOB DUTIES
- Demonstrate a) knowledge and previous experience working with employers, community partners, schools and educators; b) ability to cultivate relationships.
- Demonstrate ability and self-motivation to perform reliably in complex and unsupervised environment.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries from customers or members of the business community with a focus on problem solving and successful solutions.
- Demonstrated sensitivity to the needs of individuals who are traditionally underrepresented in post-secondary education and knowledge of issues affecting their success.
- Familiarity with social and emotional student development activities and positive youth development.
- Must have excellent verbal skills, written communication skills, and able to speak to a variety of audiences of stakeholders/customers about opportunities
- Ability to problem solve.
- Detail-oriented, self-starter, with high initiative, creativity, and ability to work independently and as a part of a team.
- Computer literacy and thorough knowledge of standard computer programs, i.e. Microsoft Office
- Excellent interpersonal, organization, and time management skills required.
- Requires reliable transportation to support onsite visits at company locations.
- Ability to work outside of normal work hours for events and meetings as needed.
- Serve as primary point of contact for employer partners and apprentices for coaching, technical assistance, problem solving and customer service throughout the duration of the youth apprenticeship.
- Build positive and trusting customer relationships by maintaining proactive and consistent communication and delivering exceptional service.
- Assess potential barriers to apprentice success and strategize with employers, internal colleagues, and external partners to implement solutions that build equitable outcomes for all apprentice participants.
- Provide thoughtful and responsive customer support as needed, empowering customers through a problem-solving mindset.
- Thoroughly document all interactions, services, data and progress in the appropriate platforms.
- Implement and coordinate programming obligations with employer partner and apprentices including work schedules, performance reviews, trainings, etc.
- Provide ongoing technical assistance and coaching to employer partners and apprentices throughout the duration of youth apprenticeship opportunities.
- Assist secondary education apprentices with accessing and utilizing Career Scholarship Accounts.
- Proactively collect success stories of employers and apprentices.
- Retention of apprentices through the duration of the full apprenticeship experience.
- Retention of employer partners for new apprenticeship opportunities.
- Provide ongoing feedback on process improvement, tools, systems, and structures.
- Meet with apprentices, companies and schools at apprentice worksites or school locations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
