The Position

Public Service Interns receive training and complete a variety of assignments in staff activities directly relating to their major course of study while enrolled in an educational institution.

Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation.

The Division of Child and Family Services (DCFS) is recruiting for a Public Service Intern 2 - Part-Time, located within Early Childhood Mental Health Services, Day Treatment Services in Las Vegas. Public Service Interns receive training and complete a variety of assignments in staff activities directly relating to their major course of study while enrolled in an educational institution. Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation. Early Childhood Mental Health Services Day Treatment Public Service Interns plan and implement group and individual activities for emotionally and behaviorally disturbed preschool-aged children (ages 3-6 years) within a therapeutic group setting. Activities must be developmentally appropriate and relevant to the children's treatment needs. Public Service Interns complete daily documentation of each child's progress towards treatment goals and objectives. They prepare reports for each child in the program. Public Service Interns at times may be the clinical lead in the Day Treatment setting. To Qualify:

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)

Bachelor's degree related to the field of employment and enrollment and continued successful performance in an academic graduate program related to the field of employment at an accredited college or university.

Special Notes

Employment is not to exceed six months from the date of graduation. Employment in this class will not lead to permanent status in State service. As part of the hiring process, applicants for positions in the Nevada System of Higher Education may be required to demonstrate the ability to perform job-related tasks.

Special Requirements

A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
