Job Summary: Heavy Equipment Mechanic responsibilities include performing major and minor repairs, conducting regular preventative maintenance on machines, engines, and mechanical equipment, and performing general diagnostics. This role will ensure all machinery and equipment are functional and safe for use.

Principle Activities and Essential Function:

• Perform major and minor repairs on heavy equipment and trucks
• Perform routine maintenance checks on vehicles and equipment, such as checking fluid levels and testing parts o Conduct regular preventative maintenance tasks on equipment, including inspection, tire rotation, and oil changes
• Use diagnostic tools to test vehicle components and identify necessary repairs
• Diagnose and repair malfunctions in diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and other components of heavy machinery o Disassemble and reassemble heavy equipment and components o Troubleshoot equipment problems and provide technical advice to other employees
• Communicate with operators to understand issues and problems with the equipment and plan repairs
• Use hydraulic jacks or hoists to complete repair o Keep detailed records of service completed on machines and history of repairs for each piece of equipment
• Maintain equipment and tools in good condition
• Test repaired equipment to ensure proper operational performance
• Follow safety rules, guidelines, and standards for all projects.

Skills and Knowledge:

• Proven work experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic
• Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic components of heavy equipment and trucks
• Ability to use various tools to perform work (i.e. hand tools, jacks, etc.)
• Ability to work independently and identify and solve problems o Ability to organize and prioritize work

Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma preferred.
• Heavy equipment or relevant certification preferred.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times
• Working in various weather conditions
• Crawling, bending and kneeling
