Job Description
The body care Scent Technology & Innovation (ST&I) Technical Manager Innovation is responsible for leading, developing and implementing the Innovation projects in the Body care category to deliver and commercialize consumer preferred fragrance solutions driving differentiation and building competitive advantage. This role will require the ability to understand and articulate perfumer and customer needs to provide a strategy for new technologies.
In this position you will be responsible for managing a team of few scientists based at the creative center in Neuilly sur Seine in France that develop new capabilities and insights to improve understanding of fragrance design and performance with technologies. This role will require strong collaborations with the global body care team, cross-category ST&I teams, and multiple business functions and teams across IFF. Exceptional communication skills are required to manage various projects and interactions, both on a local and global level.
In this role, you will partner with our R&D, Operations, Commercial and Creative teams as well as with other support function departments like regulatory affairs, Legal, Consumer Science. You will also interact with global cross categories ST&I members and develop partnerships on technology projects with key customers.
You will directly report to theTechnical Directorbased inNeuilly sur Seine.
Key Responsabilities
INNOVATION AND NEW TECHNOLOGIES
Generate and propose new innovation ideas, process and partnerships to address evolving consumer, customer and IFF needs.
Lead the projects of digital transformation for ST&I body care by coordinating the data generation in all disciplines, data management and insights generation and new tool implementation into IT system.
Lead the technology scoping/ feasibility to reach a Stop/Continue milestone efficiently.
Execute IP strategy by identifying IP opportunities, delivering IDF's and partner with Patent Lawyer to execute patent fillings.
Lead the development of capabilities and technologies to meet the agreed KPIs.
Partner with cross functional teams and V2M team to translate technologies into ready solutions.
KNOWLEDGE BUILDING & CAPABILITY
Drive & execute the building of ST&I body care data and modelling strategy, and drive implementation within the body care category by leading data management projects.
Partner with X-functional capabilities team to develop the right tools/capabilities to generate technical insights and support for patent filing.
Propose new tools/capabilities/partnerships to enhance innovation and champion the integration of various technologies.
Develop deep technical expertise in specific fragrance areas.
Awareness of fragrance construction and fragrance ingredients including constraints such as regulatory/PR/sustainability and supply chain
Generate understanding of competitor technologies.
Generate understanding of IP landscape around relevant fragrance technologies.
PEOPLE LEADERSHIP
Support the ST&I Director to articulate, promote and execute ST&I vision and mission, proactively working with the team to support needs and priorities.
Write development plans for yourself and team. Work with direct reports in establishing performance criteria & provide feedback.
Building the team for the future needs for FF innovation.
PROJECT MANAGEMENT
Lead with little/no guidance all aspect of projects including resource, KPIs, timing, network, risks and stakeholders' communication.
Execute the project plan within the given timelines.
CUSTOMER INTIMACY & TECHNICAL PARTNERSHIP
Build deep relationship with all internal partners across Scent division.
Interact with Global Category Director to optimize resources and align innovation program with category requirements.
Foster strong relationships with key customers, understanding their business objectives and providing technical support.
Job Requirements

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION
Minimum 10+ years’ experience in the fragrance industry, pharmaceutical, chemical, cosmetic and/or consumer goods in an international environment
Masters or PhD degree in Chemistry, Science & Technology, or related discipline
Experience in working together with data scientists and IT in an industrial environment.
Experience in working on analytical and sensory data
Proven record of managing innovation projects globally
Build and inspire a team working with multiple functions across large organization
Experience presenting to global, cross functional internal customers.
