Purpose of the position:
This position covers a 130-mile area of territory from Cartier to Chapleau with 30% field travel. As a Roadmaster you will directly provide and ensure oversight and compliance with corporate policy and regulatory engineering standards. Provide leadership accountability for input/output of safety, service, productivity and financial metrics. Ensures the application of CPKC safety practices, policies and procedures by all direct union reports.
Position accountabilities:
Directs, coordinates, and/or implements emergency response to service interruptions and implement seasonal plans
Leads Union employees within the terms of the Collective Agreement and assists in handling corrective actions, disputes and grievances
Accountable for current year execution and provides information, recommendations, and validation for scope of work documents, annual/multi-year capital planning priorities
Provide oversight of engineering materials and accurate inventory
Ensure CPKC is aligned with all FRA regulatory processes
Position requirements:
5 years’ experience in track maintenance & renewal
2 years’ experience leading Track Renewal crews such as Rail Tie crews
Complete understanding of Railway Track Safety Rules
Knowledge and full comprehension of Collective Agreement language
People leadership
On-call rotation (likely every other week) and may be required to respond to incidents on other territories

Management Conductor Program:
Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
