Summary of Job Description
The positions within the Tester are responsible for interpreting shop orders, pump specification charts, and gauges to document performance and time cards. This position will be responsible for solving problems involving a variety of concrete variables where only limited standardized situations exist utilizing principles of rational thinking and problem solving.
Essential Functions
Pumping Trucks
Driving around the lot able to fuel and add DEF
Hook up and draft water, engage a pump and discharge water out any discharge.
Conduct hydrostatic and hydrodynamic tests (Hydro test at 250 psi to 500 psi)
Operate each system on the truck including but not limited to foam system, CAFS system, flow meters, electrical valves, dump chutes
Road tester
Inspect truck to ensure it is safe to drive on the road and refuel
Complete DOT check to ensure the truck is road legal
Drive truck on road and highway safely
Use the scale to weigh a truck
Calibrate ABS and ESC
Perform walk around fire apparatus inspections
Prepare apparatus for testing procedures
Initiate test and monitor pump performance and engine conditions
Document test performance
Repair applicable documented inadequacies and provide root cause analysis
Marginal Work Functions

Basic Qualifications
1 or more years of relevant experience OR High School Diploma or equivalent education
Ability to obtain a CDL license
Two or more years related experience in automotive mechanics, automotive electrical, or mechanical assembly
Preferred Qualifications to Complete Essential Functions
Possess a CDL
Previous ARFF department experience

Perform assigned tasks
Demonstrate strong interpersonal communication skills
Recognize and safely react to abnormal operating conditions
Use and wear personal protective equipment as indicated by the task or environment
Hear safety alarms and other co-workers
Perform basic counting tasks
Read tape measure, safety manuals, work orders, and blue prints effectively
Follow instructions from supervisors and other co-workers
Understand and identify safety issues
Maintain balance when walking and standing on potential slippery work floor
Maintain balance when climbing on a portable step to retrieve parts
Climb into trucks with a step height up to 22”
Individually lift and manipulate parts/equipment weighing up to 80 pounds
Tolerate constant standing and walking throughout the shift
Use both hands for tool operation, carrying of parts, and assisting co-workers with heavy lifting of parts
Distinguish the difference in color of wires, harnesses, and cables
Operate and access heavy equipment safely and effectively
