United States Fleet Forces Command ELECTRONICS TECHNICIAN in Naval Weapons Station, Virginia

Summary You will serve as a ELECTRONICS TECHNICIAN in the METROLOGY ENGINEERING BRANCH (2321) of NMC ORD SYS ENG MGMT. This announcement uses the Certain Personnel of the DoD direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. Responsibilities You will calibrate, certify, and repair test equipment in accordance with Metrology Procedures and Manufacturer Repair Manuals, which covers a wide range of technologies and equipment. You will perform analysis of measurement accuracy over the life span of hardware. You will provide logistical support, configuration management, conduct spare parts analysis for the customer equipment and calibration laboratory standards, and maintain equipment recall database and test equipment/standards inventory. You will conduct engineering investigations to determine failure modes of equipment including assessment of the impact on reliability and maintainability. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-7 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience applying extensive practical knowledge of the theories, principles, and techniques of electronics and the ability to apply this knowledge to the accomplishment of complex work assignments. Experience using and calibrating phase noise measurement instruments. A basic understanding of phase noise measurement technology is required. Experience understanding electronic, electrical, electromechanical test and measurement equipment, and mechanical test and measurement equipment and its characteristics. May be required to work overtime. Some walking, bending, and lifting are required when setting up for a different measurement system. A great deal of upper body and arm movements are required. Carrying standards and test equipment is required to move items around for test and calibration. This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.
