Naval Facilities Engineering Command MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR I in Naval Shipyard, Virginia

Summary You will serve as a MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR I in the FACILITIES MANAGEMENT & SUSTAINMENT PRODUCT LINE of NAVFAC ENGINEERING CMD MID-ATLANTIC. Responsibilities You will plan work schedules and sequence of operations for work force supervised. You will assign work to subordinates either orally, by providing written instructions, or electronically through the Computerized Facilities Management System. You will train subordinates in work methods and procedures, proper use of equipment, safety regulations and other regulations and policies established by the Federal Government. You will inspect work in progress to ensure productivity, efficiency, economy, and safety of operations. You will advise on the use of general maintenance safety equipment. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Physical Effort: May be required to enter confined spaces which by design, have limited and/or restricted openings for entry and exit, a lack of natural ventilation and may contain or produce hazardous contamination/oxygen deficiencies or enrichment. Working Conditions: Must be able to climb ladders and scaffolds to perform work at various heights. Moderate lifting up to 40 pounds is required. Work may also be performed in various surroundings including waterfront, airfield, industrial, residential and construction work sites. Exposed to normal hazards associated with construction work, industrial operations and prevailing weather conditions.
