Summary You will serve as an ENGINEER OR SCIENTIST as the Technical Representative for PEO-UWS, in Washington DC, in the NUWC Field Team Branch (0CA3) of NAVUNSEAWARCENDIV NEWPORT RI. This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project. The ND-05 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to GS-14 and GS-15. Responsibilities You will serve as a Technical Representative and liaison between NUWC and TEAMSUB, directly reporting to the PEO-UWS Executive Director, providing acquisition, Science and Technology and technical support, insights and guidance. You will participate in Unmanned Systems payload integration integrated product teams helping to identify and resolve capability gaps through incorporation of material or non- material solutions. You will support Team Sub Tactical Submarine Evolution Plan (TSEP) activities, through direct coordination with NUWC subject matter experts (SMEs), participate on the TSEP Integrated product Team, provide planning and execution support. You will provide NUWCDIVNPT insight into TEAMSUB priorities, efforts and support needs. You will provide input into the PEO UWS Science and Technology Objectives (STOs). You will support the TEAMSUB Submarine Unified Build Strategy (SUBS), identify, assess, and propose opportunities to leverage technologies between Virginia Class, Columbia Class, and SSN(X) platforms, through direct coordination with NUWC SMEs. You will support the transition of capabilities, systems, and technologies from NUWC R and D initiatives to PEO UWS program offices. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications This is an interdisciplinary position and may be filled by a Mechanical Engineer (0830-series), a Computer Engineer (0854-series), an Electronics Engineer (0855-series), or a Computer Scientist (1550-series) depending upon the qualifications of the candidate. Education Applicants must meet at least one of the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Professional Engineering Series (08XX) - Degree: A professional engineering degree from an ABET-accredited college or university; OR a degree with curriculum in differential and integral calculus, with additional courses in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics; or electronics; OR Professional Engineering Series (08XX) - Substitution of Education/Experience: A combination of education and experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying professional engineering; and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering. The adequacy of such background must be demonstrated by one of the following: (a) professional registration, (b) evidence of successfully passing the Engineer-in-Training (EIT) examination; (c) successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified above; or (d) successful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in engineering technology or in an appropriate professional field, e.g., physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology, may be accepted in lieu of a degree in engineering provided that it included at least 1 year of professional engineering experience acquired under professional engineering supervision and guidance.
