Naval Supply Systems Command MATERIALS HANDLER in Naval Air Station Pensacola, Florida
Summary You will serve as a MATERIALS HANDLER within NAVSUP FLT LOGISTICS CNTR JACKSONVILLE. Responsibilities You will organize and coordinate receiving operations by verifying items and annotating documents. You will perform re-warehousing and consolidation assignments by identifying, matching, and checking materials to be moved against materials already in storage and stacking and rotating use the first in first out (FIFO) method. Your will store, stack, and rotate materials using common hand tools and materials handling equipment (MHE). You will review and check documents and records to locate missing data and verify inventories are accurate. You will use tools such as hand tools, hand trucks, utility vehicles, and standard forklifts to complete materials handling assignments. I have the ability to perform the most difficult and complex tasks associated with receiving, storing, packaging and preservation, delivering, loading, shipping, physical inventory actions, and other general tasks involving the movement and processing of material to meet customer requirements; verifying shipments by checking shipping documents and matching specific item identification by name, stock number, letter, code, quantity, and unit of issue on containers; applying material handling techniques in storing items providing for easy retrieval, convenience in handling, and protection from damage and ease of movement; maintaining overall warehouse efficiency by applying various concepts such as First-In-First-Out (FIFO); demonstrating proper work methods in assigned tasks to ensure appropriate materials, equipment, and other needed resources are utilized to accomplish work; practicing required safety and housekeeping methods/procedures; and loading and unloading various types of vehicles using a wide range of material handling equipment. I am considered an expert and work with a high degree of independence. B. I have the ability to perform the full range of tasks associated with receiving, storing, packaging and preservation, delivering, loading, shipping, physical inventory actions, and other general tasks involving the movement and processing of material to meet customer requirements; verifying shipments by checking shipping documents; applying material handling techniques in storing items providing for easy retrieval, convenience in handling, and protection from damage and ease of movement; maintaining overall warehouse efficiency by applying various concepts such as First-In-First-Out (FIFO); practicing required safety and housekeeping methods/procedures; and loading and unloading various types of vehicles using a wide range of material handling equipment. I work on my own initiative under general supervision subject to occasional inspection. C. I have the ability to perform common tasks associated with receiving, storing, packaging and preservation, delivering, loading, shipping, physical inventory actions, and other general tasks involving the movement and processing of material to meet customer requirements; verifying shipments by checking shipping documents; applying material handling techniques in storing items providing for easy retrieval, convenience in handling, and protection from damage and ease of movement; practicing required safety and housekeeping methods/procedures; and loading and unloading various types of vehicles using a wide range of material handling equipment. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.
