Summary You will serve as a Maintenance Mechanic in the Public Works Department of NAV FACILITIES ENGINEERING COMMAND SE. Responsibilities You will operate electrical test equipment (e.g., voltage detectors, multimeters) to determine the presence of electrical energy. You will conduct visual inspections and operational tests to determine the need for maintenance or repair work. You will lay out job systems and components from blueprints and sketches in compliance with federal, state, and local codes. You will follow instructions specified in work orders to perform maintenance and repair work. The Screen-out Element for this position is: 1) Using masonry methods and techniques and skill in constructing, installing, repairing, and modifying structures. 2) Producing finished products with precise fits, accurate dimensions, structural soundness, and finished appearance. 3) Having skills in the operation of general and precision carpentry and woodworking equipment, to include powered and hand tools, to produce products with precise fits, accurate dimensions, and acceptable appearance. This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required. May work at a job site or location other than a permanently assigned location. This position requires rotating shift work. Work overtime and/or be "called back."
