Responsibilities You will control access to secure areas by checking all facilities (e.g., gates, locks, fence lines, designated sensitive buildings) to protect an installation. You will explain policies, goals, procedures, and regulations to assigned law enforcement personnel. You will conduct random searches of vehicles to detect unauthorized removal of classified material, government property, contraband, weapons, or explosives. You will initiate action when unlawful entries or other violations are found as a result of making physical security checks of buildings. You will use established techniques and procedures to seize and protect evidence. You will write crime scene reports containing evidence and statements gathered. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Performing law enforcement (LE), physical security (PS), antiterrorism (AT), and force protection (FP) functions; 2) Conducting preliminary and/or ongoing investigations of incidents; 3) Documenting law enforcement and security events and the issuance of citations; 4) Distributing workload to junior officers in accordance with priority and skill level. Education Additional Information This announcement uses the Defense Industrial Base, Major Range and Test Facilities direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to certain positions in the competitive service. Position is subject to shift work, recall and/or unplanned overtime work. Employees are required to provide accurate contact information to supervisor. Reporting requirements are outlined in local procedures, instructions and/or Collective Bargaining Agreements. Must meet OPM hearing and vision requirements to include distinguishing basic shades of color. Employee is required to wear an assigned uniform and display official designated items or accessories to include additional required equipment. The employee must follow and adhere to applicable grooming standards for the installation. Must be able to successfully complete the mandated 40-hour Emergency Vehicle Operators Course (EVOC) to be qualified to Operate motor vehicles (i.e. sedans, cargo trucks, pickup trucks) having gross vehicle weights of 7,000 pounds or less, loading capacities of 1 ton or less, manual transmissions, and 2 or 4-wheel drive in support of operations and to transport personnel and materials throughout the installation and on public roads. With additional training, the incumbent may be required to qualify on police bicycles and other rough terrain vehicles such as ATVs and snow mobiles. Shall be required to be CPR certified and utilize a portable heart defibrillator where available. This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. Several vacancies may be filled.
