Touro University Housekeeper in Naugatuck, Connecticut
Overview
Housekeepers are assigned to each Academic Building to maintain public/ common areas, to assist in eliminating distractions such as unwanted graffiti, dust/dirt, and unwanted smells from the learning environment and to assist in the protection of the faculty, employees, and student’s health and safety.
Responsibilities
Cleans all areas of the building including, but not limited to the following and other duties as assigned:
Empties and cleans waste receptacles and replaces bags as necessary.
Dusts and mops hard surfaced floors.
Thoroughly vacuums, including all edges of carpeted floors.
Arranges furniture to its original position.
Reports any damage or vandalism to your House Keeper or supervisor.
Cleans glass to classroom entrance doors.
Wet mops hard floors as weather and usage conditions dictate (daily during winter months).
Dusts exposed horizontal surfaces such as window sills, empty shelves, door casings, and bottoms of furniture (NOTE: In scientific laboratories, bench tops and hoods are not to be cleaned by House Keeping.
Replaces light bulbs as necessary.
Clean all glass.
Keep all entrances clean.
Other duties as assigned.
RESTROOMS: DAILY
Empties trash receptacles, cleansas needed, and replaces bag liners.
Checks and replaces all paper products such as tissue and hand towels as needed.
Checks and fills soap dispensers as necessary.
Cleans and disinfects sinks, toilet seats, and side panels to stall partitions.
Cleans mirrors.
Cleans entrance panels to stalls of fingerprints, etc…
Qualifications
Education/ Experience
High School diploma or GED
At least 1-2 years experience
Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities
Requires regular, reliable and predictable work attendance
Ability to operate custodial and maintenance equipment
Good knowledge of proper chemical storage, use and inventory
Skill in maintenance tools and materials
Physical Demands
Extensive time sitting and standing
Able to climb stairs, ladders and scaffolds, bend, stoop, push, pull, reach, and kneel
Ability to lift 25-40 pounds
Must wear a uniform
Exposure to chemical cleaners and pesticides
