Job Summary
We are currently seeking a Chemical Lab Technician at our Natrona Heights Operations. This position uses analytical chemistry instrumentation, procedures, and provides analytical quantitative and qualitative analyses on non-routine samples such as metals and raw materials.
Essential Functions
Able to work safely and responsibly with Hydrochloric Acid, Nitric Acid, and Hydrofluoric Acid among other chemical and reagents in the laboratory.
Proved analyses of metals, raw materials, and other process materials used in the making of steel. Using various analytical procedures including Graphite furnace AA, and ICP.
Proved results pertaining to new metal and raw material standards used in the processing of steel using the above analytical procedures.
Provide daily routine maintenance and occasional repairs as needed for laboratory instrumentation.
Work on new instrumentation and procedures to determine if they can be utilized in an everyday analytical lab situation. Develop written procedures.
Perform dissolution of metal/powder samples utilizing both hotplate and microwave digestion procedures.
Prepare and standardize reagents, chemical solutions, and other compounds required for analytical analyses.
Train other analytical and production personnel on procedures, methodology and result reporting. Discuss and explain procedures and results from outside firms.
