Mississippi Employer Collections Officer in Natchez, Mississippi

Position Summary

 

 

 

Has overall responsibility for the bank's collections activities for all types of loans and charged off deposit accounts.  Ensures that procedures conform to requirements.  Performs collection services on delinquent and charged off loans and deposit accounts for the bank.  Assists with coordinating collection efforts with the authorities regarding fraudulent account activity. This position has a direct impact regarding the mitigation and recovery of bank losses.

 

 

 

Duties and Accountabilities

 

 

 

Contacts delinquent/charged off loan and/or deposit customers through telephone calls, letters, and personal visits.

Assists lenders in collection efforts and activities on delinquent accounts.

Assists branches/operations in collection efforts regarding deposit accounts involved in check fraud and/or debit card fraud, etc.  Acts as liaison with appropriate authorities to protect bank's interest.

Ensure payments are properly credited/applied to customer accounts. 

Maintain records of any and all expenses incurred in the collection of accounts to maximize reimbursement to the bank.

Handle all bankruptcies for the bank, including receipt of notices, filing proofs of claim, working with bank attorney, attending meetings of creditors, and performing all functions required to protect the bank's interest and minimize loss.

Provide periodic reports/updates to Chief Credit Officer and appropriate committees on all bankruptcies and delinquent and/or charged off accounts. 

Recommend liquidations, foreclosures and repossessions when necessary.

Represent the bank at sheriff sales, meetings with attorneys and other appropriate meetings to protect bank's interests.

Oversee foreclosed properties and movables for proper management and regular inspections, maintenance, etc.  Coordinate with loan operations manager to ensure that property taxes and insurance are maintained.  Act as liaison for prospective purchasers of repossessed assets.

 

Qualifications

 

 

High School diploma or equivalent.

Excellent oral, written and human relations skills.

Good attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines and deal tactfully with customers.

Ability to multi-task

Highly organized individual (maintain history on collection efforts)
