JOB DESCRIPTION TITLE: Child Nutrition Supervisor QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in nutrition or related field
- Five years or more experience preferred
- Thorough knowledge of equipment use and care in food service requirements
- Thorough knowledge of equipment use and care in food service facilities
- Considerable knowledge of personnel management principles
- Ability to develop and maintain harmonious and productive working relationships
- Considerable knowledge of food preparation and serving practices
- Working knowledge of budgetary principles
Ability to compile and analyze data
SUPERVISES: *Child nutrition staff *REPORTS TO: *Superintendent of Education *JOB GOAL: The Child Nutrition Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Child Nutrition Programs including national school, lunch, and breakfast programs; snack program; and the Summer Feeding program. TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Such duties and responsibilities as may be assigned, including but not limited to:
Works with managers on needs for day/week/etc. and prepares for meetings/conferences
- Coordinates all information concerning special needs students
- Works with parents about all concerns
- Works with district personnel regarding Child Nutrition needs
- Orders all food and supplies for all cafeterias in district including commodity and DOD
- Works with CN staff concerning all purchases (food, equipment, supplies etc.)
- Responsible for all Child Nutrition training needs
- Conducts all manager and employee meetings
- Prepares and monitors annual budget
- Reviews monthly fundamental reports to determine financial viability
- Determines department needs consistent with current profit and loss statements
- Develops spreadsheets for equipment and other department needs
- Works with vendors for equipment
- Audits all reports for submission to state/local entities
- Addresses employee concerns

- Reviews all claims/reports for reimbursement reported to state
- Addresses any areas of concern relating to reimbursement/expenditures
- Reviews department accounts payable responsibility
- Reviews NSLP, NSBP, and ASSP
- Reviews all time and attendance reports weekly
- Works with managers about employee problems (absences, employee work, etc.)
- Reviews work related injuries
- Monitors food and supply inventory all sites
- Reviews department standards regarding "offer vs. serve" requirements
- Completes all grant applications
- Develops and monitors HACCP manual and required documentation
- Determines departmental needs for technology
- Serves as Wellness Coordinator for the district
- Schedules wellness meeting
- Reviews wellness guidelines
- Checks for compliance for wellness by site
- Schedules and attends wellness meeting
- Develops agenda and in-services for wellness committee needs
- Prepares annual wellness reports for the Board of Trustees
- Provides managers with appropriate support for individual sites
- Visits sites as needed
- Monitors red books
- Prepares reports for central office as needed
- Verifies free and reduced lunch information is accurate for submission
- Works with school staff concerning free and reduced status
- Verifies that all paperwork is in accordance with USDA guidelines
- Submits maintenance work orders
- Submits technology work orders
- Monitors work order completions
- Interviews and hire new employees
- Determines work schedules for Child Nutrition employees
- Monitors "One Call" system
- Monitors student balances by site and notifies p incipals of outstanding balances
- Provides schools with nutrition materials as requested
- Attends IEP meetings when requested
- Confers with auditor
Meets with vendors as needed
Completes National School Lunch contracts with state department
- Determines compliance with USDA
- Health department inspections
Completes Summer Feeding Contract with state department
- Develops menus and assigns managers and employees for summer feeding
- Develops budget for summer feeding
- Provides required in-service for summer feeding program
Oversees Fresh Fruit and Vegetable grant for eligible schools(3)
- Places and verifies orders
- Processes invoices for payment
- Processes claims
- Monitors grant for remaining funds
- Works with sites for usage, etc.
- Researches new items G. Discusses items with vendors
Develops menus
- Monthly menus for elementary and secondary schools including nutrient analysis to comply with USDA requirements
- Submits carbohydrate analysis for students with diabetes to nurses
- Submits menus to managers and web manager
