Job Summary and Qualifications

The Trauma Data Abstraction Manager is responsible for assisting in the development and operation of the Clinical Data Abstraction Shared Services and overall activities as it relates to abstraction of data for complex core measures, complex cardiovascular services, trauma registry, VON and infectious disease data.

What you will do in this role:

  • Provides direct managerial oversight and general direction to overall abstraction operations.

  • Actively reviews and manages data outcomes to identify opportunity for overall quality improvement.

  • Ensures complete, accurate, timely and consistent abstraction according to the standards of various regulatory and accreditation agencies (e.g. CMS, TJC, NHSN, ACS, etc.).

  • Works in partnership with various teams to communicate production related issues such as workflow processes, forecasting, scheduling, quality activities, etc.

  • Coaches and develops team members; resolves behavioral issues; disciplines and counsels staff as necessary.

  • Selects, evaluates, trains and provides leadership and direction to staff.

  • Coordinates and/or performs productivity and quality reviews of all direct reports.

  • Responsible for review and improvement of CDRA processes and services.

  • Responsible for ensuring employee work schedules sufficiently meet mandated record completion requirements established by the governing body.

  • Attend educational activities as approved by Director.

  • Maintain knowledge of various abstracted registry(s).

  • Ensures annual training requirements are completed by staff.

  • Timely reporting of team and individual work accomplishments, problems and problem resolution, progress in mastering operational workflow processes, and individual and team training needs to Director.

  • Ensures all errors are resolved in the rejection of records from the data entry system.

  • Timely completion of all required education.

  • Practice and adhere to the “Code of Conduct” philosophy and “Mission and Value Statement”

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s Degree required. Equivalent work experience may substitute education requirements.

  • Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in Health Information Management; Coding, Nursing, and/or Health Registry abstraction experience.

  • PREFFERED: RHIT, RHIA, CCS, LVN or RN.
