Army National Guard Units TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST (TITLE 32) in Nashville, Tennessee
Summary THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST (TITLE 32), Position Description Number NGT5799501 and is part of the TN ARMY, Air National Guard. This vacancy is covered by Association of Civilian Technicians (ACT), Chapter 115 (Pyramid on the River Chapter). Responsibilities As a TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST GS-2130-09 (TITLE 5) you will support the DMC with the planning and execution of unit movements, and management of military convoys for all services moving within or passing through the state. Provide assistance in reviewing and validating Unit Movement Plans (UMP) and Unit Movement Data (UMD) prior to submission to Forces Command (FORSCOM). Coordinates with the various State Departments of Transportation (DOT) to determine highway availability, restrictions, and permit requirements. Provides official estimates of post mobilization transportation capabilities and requirements and disseminates information to appropriate military commands. Assists the DMC in day to day management of the General Services Administration (GSA) Vehicle Fleet as well as assigned Transportation Motor Pool (TMP) assets. Perform other related duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience developing policies and administering the management of traffic programs, plans and directs traffic operations within the program and performs necessary technical work involved in obtaining economical and efficient transportation of equipment, supplies, and personnel in support of these operations. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 1 year at the next lower GS level or 24 months specialized experience involving the movement of freight or passengers and determining transportation and operating costs. Experience participating in the direction and coordination of traffic management function. Experience interpreting and providing routine advice on carrier tariffs and related routing guides. Interpreting regulations/requirements and developing local policies to implement changes effectively. Experience applying applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations concerning transportation and traffic procedure. Experience preparing reports and recommendations involving appeals, special permits, adjustments in rates and charges. Experience which involved negotiations with carriers on individual shipments or traffic movement; experience in making effective presentations both orally and in writing.
