The Office of the Tennessee Comptroller of the Treasury is responsible for the audit of state and local governmental entities and participates in the general financial and administrative management and oversight of state government. The Office is led by Comptroller Jason E. Mumpower, a constitutional officer who is elected by the Tennessee General Assembly.

Position

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Systems Administrator to manage and optimize our IT infrastructure across on-premise systems, cloud environments, and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) applications. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the seamless deployment, integration, security, and performance of our diverse technology solutions, ensuring robust and efficient operation. This role includes maintaining traditional on-premise hardware and software, managing cloud-based resources, and optimizing SaaS applications to support business operations and enhance user productivity. The successful candidate will provide a crucial link between current IT capabilities and the organization’s strategic goals, ensuring that all systems—whether on-prem, cloud, or SaaS—are aligned with the needs of the business. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Administer, configure, and maintain SaaS applications, ensuring availability and performance.

  • Monitor user access, roles, and permissions across various SaaS platforms.

  • Oversee license management and vendor relationships to optimize costs and compliance.

  • Implement and maintain security best practices for SaaS applications, including identity and access management (IAM), data protection, and compliance with company policies.

  • Collaborate with IT and business teams to evaluate, integrate, and deploy new SaaS solutions.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to SaaS applications and escalate as necessary.

  • Develop and maintain documentation for configurations, policies, and procedures.

  • Conduct training and support for end-users to maximize productivity.

  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and SaaS management best practices.

  • Automate current systems and processes by utilizing IaC (Infrastructure as Code).

  • Integrate with existing organizational DevOps culture and practices.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong knowledge of SaaS and on-premise software platforms such as Microsoft 365, Exchange, Zendesk, Knowledge Lake, ChatGPT, Teammate, Splunk, Print Server, and other enterprise applications.

  • Experience with Single Sign-On (SSO), Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), and Identity Management solutions.

  • Familiarity with IT security, data protection, and compliance frameworks.

  • Understanding of API integrations, automation tools, and scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python, or similar).

  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

    Education and Experience

    Graduation from an accredited college or university with an associate or bachelor’s degree. 3+ years of experience in IT administration, SaaS management, or cloud-based application support. Other combinations of education and experience, if evaluated as equivalent, may qualify an applicant for consideration.

    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies

    A successful employee in this role has the functional and technical knowledge and skills to effectively support enterprise system infrastructure containing SaaS applications. This role calls for the competencies to effectively solve problems in a stressful environment, partner with other technical teams to resolve technical issues, learn new technology quickly, effectively manage their time and competing priorities, remain relentlessly focused on delighting the customer, and possess the strategic agility to adjust with changes in the business.

    Necessary knowledge includes a strong working knowledge of system hardware and software standards, change management, configuration management, and business process improvement methods.

    A successful employee in this role has skills in professional judgment and decision making, troubleshooting and problem-solving, project and time management, customer service, and problem management. Incumbents should possess abilities in deductive and inductive reasoning, oral comprehension and expression, category and extent flexibility, speed of closure, and written comprehension and expression.
