Vanderbilt University Sr. Research Scientist - VTS in Nashville, Tennessee

  • Lead an independent research project the topic of which will be decided upon between the Scientist and and the PI based on interest, priority, and funding.

  • Support research operations by collaborating with other scientists by assisting with experimental design, execution, and data analysis. Research duties and responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Animal studies:

  • Evaluating compounds/technologies of interest in diverse mouse tumor models, including evaluation of efficacy, toxicity, and pharmacological properties.

  • Breeding and management of mouse colonies.

  • Work with collaborators to establish new animal models of disease and/or methodologies.

  • Cell and molecular biology (e.g., qRT-PCR, molecular cloning, western blots, fluorescent microscopy, immunohistochemistry, etc)

  • Flow cytometry and immunophenotyping

  • Small animal imaging (e.g., IVIS)

  • Train other group members in animal procedures and cell and molecular biology techniques.

  • Support the PI in preparation of grant proposals (including generation of preliminary data), manuscripts, and lab protocols.

  • Establish and benchmark new protocols as needed (often with support of other group members)

  • Assist in preparing IACUC protocols and amendments

  • Assist in routine lab operations, including maintaining instrumentation, compliance with animal use, compliance with biological and chemical safety protocols, and inventory and procurement of lab supplies and reagents.
