Position Description
The Metro Nashville Public Health Department (MPHD) is seeking a dynamic and experienced Public Health Practitioner to lead our Tuberculosis (TB) Elimination Program as our TB Program Director. The Program Director will oversee day to day program operations, including ensuring effective and efficient clinic flow, providing support and back up for nurses, technicians, and clerical staff, and monitoring quality controls to ensure required metrics are met. The Program Director supervises the clinic and field supervisors and nurses; and works closely the clinic physician. The Program Director serves as the leader in the Tuberculosis Elimination Program, appropriately modeling and promoting the core values of MPHD. This position reports to the Medical Services Director. The ideal candidate will have experience and/or knowledge of Tuberculosis disease transmission and control, effective supervisory and training skills, and experience in public health field work and investigations.
The TB Elimination Program works with community agencies, providers, and hospitals to identify persons who have active TB disease. Diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up services are provided to all persons in Davidson County who are diagnosed with active TB disease. Contact investigations are conducted in partnership with patients who have active TB disease to identify, evaluate, and treat individuals who have been exposed to active TB. Directly observed therapy is provided to all persons with TB disease, children, and some high-risk contacts.

Typical Duties
Manage and oversee the operations of the TB Elimination Program to ensure the program is meeting current guidelines and standards of care.
Communicates and consults regularly with internal and external stakeholders.
Provides community education and outreach activities.
Supports public communication efforts and messaging.
Monitor grant activities as outlined in the Scope of Services from TDH and ensure the program is meeting or exceeding established measures.
Develops budgets and tracks financial activities for the TB Elimination Program.
Draft reports and communications documents for internal and external customers.
Supervises employees and interprets rules, policies, and procedures for staff members.
Reviews employee performance and counsels or corrects employees as needed.
Oversees hiring of new staff, identifies staff development needs, and facilitates growth and learning opportunities.
Assist with other public health matters as requested by the Director of Health or designee.
Minimum Qualifications
Master of Science in Nursing from a program accredited by a nationally recognized nursing accreditation organization.
Current Nurse Practitioner Certification from a nationally recognized nursing accreditation organization.
Certificate of Fitness as an Advanced Practice Nurse issued by the State of Tennessee.
Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Tennessee. Applicants holding a Registered Nurse or APRN license from a state that participates in the “Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact” may be hired but must obtain their Tennessee license within thirty (30) days of hire.
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification.
Valid class “D” driver’s license, use of personal vehicle, and maintenance of valid personal vehicle insurance as required by Tennessee Law.

Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Experience and knowledge in medical and social management of tuberculosis.
Three (3) years of experience as a nurse practitioner.
Knowledge of adult and childhood immunization schedule.
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
