Innophos Production Engineer in Nashville, Tennessee

Our site in Nashville, Tennessee is seeking a Production Engineer to join our team. This position provides technical support of assigned production units to corporate, plant management, and hourly workforce as well as performs liaison duties between production units, engineering and maintenance. The Production Engineer will also support daily activities of hourly employees to ensure work is done safely and downtime is minimized.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor the process, support operations, promote safety and lead process improvement initiatives

  • Update SOP’s and manage engineering documentation

  • Develop and report monthly performance metrics

  • Prepare capital budget and projects for assigned processes

  • Perform root cause analysis of process deviations and ensure follow-up on action items

  • Participation in the Process Improvement Teams as necessary

  • Work with plant team to achieve plant objectives

  • Participate in investigations and the implementation of corrective actions to all customer complaints

  • Evaluate production results/troubleshoot quantity and quality problems and implement corrective actions as required

  • Track, calculate, and communicate production performance metrics, including but not limited to RFT and OEE

  • Audit production databases daily for accuracy and completeness

  • Oversee MOC process as it relates to the tasks of the position

    RequiredEducation and Experience

  • Minimum BS Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, chemical preferred

  • 3 or more years of experience preferred in chemical plant unit operations (reactions, heat transfer, size reduction, and bulk solid transfers)

  • Phosphates manufacturing chemistry is a plus

    Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Good organizational, written and verbal communication skills including technical writing ability

  • Strong computer skills including Word, Excel, and fully conversant with all Microsoft Office applications

  • Experience in managing capital projects (up to $100k); timelines, scheduling, installation, and deliverables review

  • Ability to efficiently manage contractors, service suppliers, and vendors to accomplish business objectives

  • Must be able to develop plant energy and material balances

  • Must be able to read and develop PFDs and P&IDs

  • Must have a good understanding of plant economics

  • Good understanding of the hazards of materials such as natural gas, industrial solvents, lubricants, as well as the need for protection of the environment and basic knowledge of permit requirements

  • Conceptual understanding of Good Manufacturing practices and Management of Change

  • Knowledge of SPC techniques is a plus

  • Knowledge/experience in reaction kinetics and process furnace operations is a plus

  • Basic knowledge of laboratory analytical techniques is a plus

  • Must have a strong commitment to safety

  • Frequent climbing (ladders/stairs), standing, and bending

  • Frequent temperature changes

  • Frequent plant field visits

  • Occasional lifting (up to 50 lbs.)

  • Occasional squatting
