Summary

The Manager Mobile Services (MMS) manages the Mobile Maintenance operation for an assigned area. The Maintenance Specialists (MS) report directly to the MMS. Using leadership, the MSS, recruits, develops and mentors the MS's. They manage to the assigned profitability metrics, and represent Ryder at internal and external meetings as requested by senior management. The MMS assists the technicians as needed to develop relationships with clients and vendors. The MMS must be able to accomplish results and ensure business objectives and labor requirements are met. The MMS is responsible for ensuring the customer's needs are being met while balancing financial, operating, quality, and safety targets against the requirements of the business measured through leadership competencies and business metrics.

Essential Functions

  • Operations Management:Achieve all profitability goals set by Ryder by working closely with assigned MS’s.Perform equipment inspections.Ensure regular communication with our leaders and facilitate needed resources to meet objectives.

  • Labor Management:Recruit and hire MS’s to provide quality service to our external customers.Ensure all technicians are on-boarded effectively.Provides management, training and development of all personnel assigned.Responsible for Performance Management of all assigned personnelResponsible for successful development and execution of the Technical Training Plan in coordination with the Field Training Team. Ensure TOPS plan is prioritized based upon Breakdown, Rework and Running Cost trends.

  • Customer Management:Monitor interactions with our customers and technicians to ensure delivery of promised services to maximize satisfaction for our customers.Responsible for delivering customer uptime through the effective scheduling of technicians as well as the consistent monitoring of technician workflow and productivity.

  • Financial Management:Responsible for implementing cost control measures related to maintenance operations budget and location P&L statement to meet financial objectives.Directly responsible for successful execution of Maintenance Initiatives to attain or exceed specified financial targets.Responsible for the optimization of net maintenance cost per unitWork with vendor sourcing group to identify potential and preferred vendors for specific vehicle maintenance servicesResponsible for ensuring accuracy of third-party invoices and the quality of worked outsourced to vendors.Responsible for Payroll, Purchase Order approval and invoice reconciliation, and fuel reconciliation, all liquid inventories to include fuel, DEF and oil.Responsible for the customer bill back process to include identification, review and approval of bill back opportunities. Responsible for ensuring proper documentation and explanation/ reporting of re-billable activity.Responsible for the Warranty process and maximizing Warranty recovery in the shop.Ensure data integrity in the system of recordResponsible for bi-annual inventory audits of all locations under footprint

  • Asset Management:Directs his/her direct reports in maintaining the appearance and maintenance of the Mobile truckEvaluates needs and makes recommendation for tooling and equipment requirementsManagement and oversight of vehicle specifications and vehicle in-service/out-service processEnsure all vehicles have required specifications in SAMResponsible for Parts Inventory management, policies and proceduresCoordinate company inventory and assets to get the best utilization and return on investment of assets

  • Quality Management:Responsible for Quality Inspections of PM & repairs, as well as performing In Process Reviews on non-PM workLead breakdown root cause analysis process, implement corrective actions locally, and when necessary, communicate issues to Technical Assistance CenterMaintain control/visibility over work completed by the MMT’s to ensure proper root cause diagnosis by technicians and that the yield on all parts/components is optimizedDevelop and ensure implementation of Quality Assurance Audit Corrective Action plans and Continuous Improvement programsAccountable for maintenance of all relevant documentation required to meet and/or exceed local, state, federal, as well as customer requirementsResponsible for ensuring a safe workplace and providing guidance for all safety efforts and initiativesEnsure Cleanliness and quality of repair for all maintained vehiclesComply with Safety, State, and EPA regulations and requirementsConduct monthly safety meetings and training remotely to consistently reinforce Ryder’s commitment to safety

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to professionally represent Ryder and competently interact with customer management

  • Capacity to understand labor, financial, operating, quality, safety and asset processes and related metrics

  • Strong sense of personal accountability and a proven track record of achieving desired results

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing

  • Ability to work with reporting systems to pull data for analysis and decision making is strongly (preferred)

  • Experience using Microsoft word and excelintermediate preferred

  • Experience with Fleet management Software preferred

  • Maintenance and Technical experience in a shop environment preferred

Qualifications

  • H.S. diploma/GED required

  • Associate's degree preferred

  • Bachelor's degree preferred

  • Three (3) years or more experience in an operations environment or demonstrated success in a Ryder role required.

  • One (1) year to Two (2) years or more Supervisory experience required.

Travel: 1-10%
