Job Summary and Qualifications
*The Pharmacy IT Tech is responsible for assisting with the maintenance and updating of Pharmacy Information Systems, especially concerning the automated dispensing cabinets (ADCs). These responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assigning, loading, and unloading medications, recovering or reporting of ADC failures, and maintaining the user database. This employee also assists the Pharmacy managers and IT teams with projects as needed. *
*What you will do in this role: *
*Maintains current knowledge and skills to proficiently handle Information Systems (IS) - related needs by completing skills development courses as necessary. *
*Assists in the design, testing, upgrading, documentation, implementation, monitoring, and maintenance of data systems *
*Provides support of data systems for continuity of operations by performing such activities as maintenance of the drug dictionaries and development of applications to facilitate retrieval and usage of data *
*Responds to requests and inquiries regarding non-clinical information *
*Maintains technician skills to assist with staffing when necessary *
Uses technician skills and experience to configure clinical information
Creates strong interpersonal relationships with the pharmacy staff and other healthcare/ non-healthcare personnel
*Addresses issues expeditiously and escalates them to appropriate internal and external personnel, such as vendor helplines, when necessary *
*Maintains and support appropriate financial, billing, and revenue information systems *
*Facilitates the development and improvement of medication documentation and ordering systems *
*Assists with database management of multiple programs within the pharmacy system, including automated dispensing cabinet systems, narcotic surveillance systems, and other applications supported by the pharmacy department *
*Maintains organized and readily retrievable records and reports specific to databases *
What qualifications you will need:
*TN State Pharmacy Tech license required *
*PTCB Certification required *
Associate Degree, or Bachelors Degree, or Certificate
*College graduate in computer science/computerized information systems programs preferred *
*2+ past experience with Microsoft applications, such as Excel, PowerPoint, and Word *
*2+ years experience with Windows Operating System *
*Previous inpatient hospital pharmacy experience preferred *
*Demonstrated ability to work effectively in development and testing environment with software/hardware vendors *
*Demonstrated intermediate knowledge of interface development and maintenance of general software *
Demonstrated intermediate skill-level experience in database management
