Position Description
This is a non-civil service position with the Chancery Court Clerk & Master’s Office. The Finance Clerk - Clerk and Master maintains and accounts for funds deposited with or disbursed by the Clerk & Master and reports accountings accurately pursuant to state and municipal law.
This position is required to lift ledgers, docket books and large case files up to twenty (20) pounds.
Typical Duties
Receipt and disburse costs, judgments, and delinquent taxes.
Post, balance, and maintain case receipts and ledgers.
Prepare daily bank deposit.
Coordinate real property redemption matters.
Prepare financial reports.
Perform administrative/clerical duties as assigned with accuracy.
Assist attorneys and the public with inquiries regarding Court costs and funds held by the Court.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate’s degree and two (2) years of professional level experience in accounting, finance or related field, including the practices and terminology used in fiscal record keeping.
Candidates with accreditations earned in a foreign institute are encouraged to apply.
Note: Per Metro Ordinance No. SO94-1078. All employees of the Metropolitan Government shall be residents of the State of Tennessee or become residents of the state within six (6) months of employment as a prerequisite to employment with the Metropolitan Government.
Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Advanced skill using Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, and Access and the ability to learn new technology tools as needed
Legal training or law related work experience
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Proven organizational and time management skills with attention to detail imperative
Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds
Bilingual
