Job Summary and Qualifications

The Enterprise Endpoint Services Platform Engineer II is responsible for maintaining a high-performing and stable end-user computing platform for over 300,000 workstations at HCA. This role involves supporting the Windows OS lifecycle, certifying endpoint hardware, adhering to operating system standards, automating software for enterprise deployment and best practices for endpoint device configuration.

Key responsibilities include certifying enterprise endpoint hardware for HP, Dell, and Microsoft devices, covering firmware, drivers, and operating system deployment. The role also requires intermediate PowerShell skills to automate software installations for enterprise deployment scenarios. A proven track record of PowerShell automation with solution examples is required. These two skill sets are essential to fulfilling the role's requirements. Additionally, at least three years of SCCM administration experience is required.

This person must be a positive, self-starter; possessing strong communication skills effectively focused on improving our customers' experience. They must possess an advanced ability to troubleshoot and dissect complex problems with strong communication skills that connect with all customer levels while collaboratively working with many other ITG Communities across the HCA Enterprise.

  • Partner with key business stakeholders to identify opportunities for enterprise automation and SCCM delivery.

  • Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts for automation tasks; leveraging the powershell app deploy toolkit as a primary tool for automation.

  • Implement automation solutions to improve overall enterprise endpoint efficiency and reduce manual tasks.

  • Develop and deliver timely communications on any automation service offerings to appropriate audience.

  • Partner with key business stakeholders to ensure timely and effective certification of endpoint hardware that enhance the customer’s endpoint experience.

  • Partner with key hardware vendors to establish a rapport for device updates and standard communications around devices.

  • Collaboratively develop and publish a certified endpoint hardware catalog that aligns with both customer personas and the HCA environments; business and clinical.

  • Utilize custom test environments to perform proof of concept implementations before deploying into production.

  • Discover, Test and Coordinate the standard implementation of device configurations via BIOS / Firmware settings.

  • Ensure core hardware components: Drivers, BIOS and device specific applications are updated at a suitable cadence to ensure hardware stability, functionality, and performance.

  • Maintain current OSD images and Task Sequences utilizing Microsoft scripting technologies such as PowerShell, WMI, and XML for captured images.

  • Develop and maintain technical FAQ/KB articles that supports hardware certification, device deployment, and management capabilities for required support tiers.

  • Develop, maintain and review Endpoint Device Standards SharePoint site and catalogs.

  • Document enterprise configuration management for endpoints and preventative maintenance as required.

  • Investigates, troubleshoots and provides solutions for all reported hardware issues related to certified endpoints.

  • Assist with planning and coordination of vendor hardware roadmap meetings inviting the appropriate audiences.

  • Support the IE Compatibility Mode Microsoft Edge solution for the enterprise.

  • Support the Beyond Trust remote support solution for the enterprise.

  • Maintain inventory of seed hardware in device certification lab

  • Properly dispose of end-of-life hardware in the device certification lab.

  • Maintain a clean and organized environment in the device certification lab to support efficient workflow.

  • Coordinates sharing of best practices and policies and procedures.

  • Participates in activities which improve departmental and organizational performance

  • Decisions: List examples of two decisions made by the incumbent on a regular basis; describe the parameters within which the decisions are made and the impact of those decisions.

  • In the endpoint sector, HCA continually strives to maintain stability and security for all certified devices across the enterprise. The engineer in this role must stay informed of all critical device updates and take the necessary actions to ensure the enterprise-wide fleet remains current and applicable notices communicated to field stakeholders.

  • The engineer must be able to evaluate all new hardware specifications in comparison with previous certified hardware in our device portfolio to determine fit and feasibility in the HCA environments. With the end goal of making informed decisions to either expand or streamline our certified endpoint hardware portfolio.

Education:

  • Technical Training in SCCM Administration, PowerShell, or experience in lieu of training

  • Associate degree preferred, or experience in lieu of degree

Experience:

  • 3 or more years required

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years’ scripting and automating solutions using PowerShell and Powershell App Deploy Toolkit.

  • 3+ years’ Systems Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) Administration experience

  • 3+ years’ experience supporting Windows Endpoint Operating Systems and hardware.

  • 3+ years’ experience utilizing centralized systems management system to administer endpoints in an enterprise sized environment.

  • Advanced, current knowledge of workstation, laptop, and tablet hardware

  • Advanced, working knowledge of Windows 10 and Windows 11 operating systems.

Desired Qualifications

  • Completion of CompTiA A+ Certification or equivalent knowledge-level.

  • SharePoint Online site development skills
