Amazon Copy Editor, Operations Internal Communications in Nashville, Tennessee

Description

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Copy Editor to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality, clarity, and consistency of our written content across various internal platforms.

This position requires a passion for language, an eye for detail, and a strong focus on the needs and experience of our end customer: Amazon Operations employees across North America. The successful candidate will play a key role in elevating the quality and impact of our written communications.

Key job responsibilities

• Edit written content for grammar, clarity, concision, and conversational style

• Ensure adherence to Amazon’s internal style guide and AP Stylebook

• Craft compelling headlines and email subject lines to maximize impact and engagement

• Collaborate with writers and other team members to refine content

• Maintain consistency in tone and voice across different content types

• Provide constructive feedback to writers to improve overall content quality

• Stay updated on language trends and evolving style guidelines

About the team

Operations Internal Communications is a team of 100+ communicators across the Americas, Europe, Asia Pacific, and the Middle East, sharing news updates, need-to-know information, and pride-building storytelling with more than 1 million Amazon Operations employees across the world. This position is focused on North America.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or related field

  • 5+ years of copy editing experience, preferably in a corporate or agency setting

  • Strong command of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation

  • Familiarity with AP Stylebook and ability to quickly learn and apply Amazon’s internal style guide

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and digital project management tools

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience editing for digital platforms and social media

  • Knowledge of HTML, PPT, Photoshop and other digital formats

  • Experience with fact-checking and source verification

  • Background in or understanding of technology, business, or e-commerce industries

  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to spot errors

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $72,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $155,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
