Job Summary and Qualifications
The Consulting Pega Application Engineer serves as a primary development resource for design, build, implementation and support of ITG Care Management enterprise application initiatives. This position leads and collaborates with other members of the team to ensure quality applications are delivered on time following business owner specifications and HCA Healthcare ITG development standards. This position requires a candidate who can analyze business requirements, perform design tasks, construct, test, and implement solutions with minimal to no supervision. This candidate will have a track record of participation in successful projects in a fast-paced, mixed team (consultant and employee) environment. In addition, the applicant must be willing to mentor other developers to prepare them for assuming the responsibilities of a Consulting Pega Application Engineer. The candidate will also be required to learn about existing legacy systems and provide on-going technical support for both existing and new applications. The applicant will provide second-level support for existing applications within a group. The Consulting Application Engineer must be a highly motivated self-starter, an enthusiastic learner, and must be committed to delivering high quality solutions within scheduled timelines.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Leads and closely collaborates with team members to successfully execute development initiatives using Agile practices and principles
Architecting Pega solutions from analyzing business requirements, building technical requirements and defining system integration points
Integrates new/existing software with existing enterprise systems
Collaborates with business analysts, project lead, management and customers daily
Participates in large-scale development projects involving multiple areas outside of core team
Designs fit-for-purpose products to ensure products align to the customer's strategic plans and technology road maps
Comprehend and estimate high-level requirements with accuracy
Demonstrates and coaches value-based decision making and Agile principles across teams
Coaches team on existing system structure, constraints and surfaces deficiencies with products
Mentor junior Pega engineers, conducts knowledge sharing and peer to peer code reviews
Documents knowledge and experience to contribute to growth of overall team capabilities and understanding
Proactively prioritizes business value when conceptualizing and designing solutions
Troubleshoot complex issues by using PDC, loggers, tracing sessions, etc. to determine root cause
Gather requirements, designs, constructs and delivers solutions with minimal team interaction
Works in an environment with rapidly changing business requirements and priorities

OTHER/SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS
Demonstration of and belief in the Agile mindset
Experience with Pega's Customer Service / Care Management / Pega Call / Constellation UI functionality
Experience working with Pega Cloud
Experience with SQL and RESTful Services
5 or more years of engineering, delivering and supporting production software products in Pega
2 or more years working with object-oriented design, SQL, and web programming
Experience with large scale enterprise application design and implementation ensuring performance and scalability
Excellent troubleshooting, analysis, and problem-solving abilities
Strong verbal and written communication with the ability to work with staff and business
Enthusiastic about our business domain and a passion for helping others
Highly motivated, collaborative individual with a focus on quality, performance and scalability
Experience with using PDC to ensure system performance is maintained in addition to guardrail scores
Knowledge of how to work within Azure DevOps
Experience in conducting a Pega Platform upgrade
