Compliance Specialistto join our Main office location. Hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM.

Day-to-Day Job Duties:

The Compliance Specialist is responsible for operational support duties and assists the Credit Union's Compliance and BSA Officer. This position assists in originating, implementing, and maintaining the Bank Secrecy Act/Anti Money Laundering (BSA/AML) and Regulatory compliance program to ensure conformity and adherence with all applicable state and federal laws and regulations.

Duties/Responsibilities

The following duties are normal for this position but should not be interpreted as all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

  • Daily monitoring of Verafin (BSA/AML software) Alerts including, BSA/AML, Watch List (OFAC), Potential CTRs, SARs, High Risk Accounts.
  • Prepare, submit and approve Currency Transaction (CTRs) and Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) within required timeframes.
  • Create SAR Cases and follow up, resolve, and close cases accordingly.
  • Conduct FinCEN 314(a) searches and identify positive matches within required timeframes.
  • Provides support to all areas of the department as directed or where service or assistance is needed.
  • Maintains a proficient knowledge of all applicable rules and regulations.
  • Reviews new deposit account opening documentation and reports for CIP compliance and ensuring all required documentation is collected and accurate; maintains exception reports of missing information for follow up with branch personnel.
  • Performs daily reviews of various reports, logs and transaction data to identify trends, unusual activity.
  • Works with the Credit Union's OFAC system and FinCEN 314(a) and (b) lists and inquiries; appropriately responds to positive hits detected by the Credit Union's AML or OFAC software system as directed.
  • Block/reject prohibited transactions and prepare related reports as required by applicable laws.
  • Maintain the dormant and escheat accounts.
  • Maintain the deceased accounts.
  • Serve as backup for review of legal documents, such as POAs, Fiduciaries, Deceased Claimants, Trusts, etc.
  • Maintain knowledge of the Credit Unions' Quality Control Program and provides assistance as directed.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Knowledge of credit union operations and governing laws, regulations, and compliance and of credit union policies and procedures.
  • Well-organized, efficient, and able to work independently on multiple tasks.
  • Able to attend continuing education courses for expanded job knowledge.
  • Proficient in the use of computer applications, specifically Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe.
  • Possess analytical, deductive reasoning and judgement skills to perform detailed research and create meaningful reports and documents.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, with special emphasis on technical writing.
  • Interpersonal skills demonstrating the ability to work cooperativel with all levels of the organization.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision while performing duties.
